I'm thinking of picking one up. I understand its very close to the Landgraff. Any experience and comments would be helpfull.

Thanks

just got the chupakabra,,, also like a landgraff. I've heard nothing but good things, and after just playing on it for an hour or two... its worth every penny. 1/3 the cost of the landgraff, and probably almost exact same circuit.

What's the difference between the two?

The Mojo Drive rocks. Lots of gain on tap, and a real nice feel while playing through it - its my go-to pedal for higher gain stuff. And the price is very nice too!

What's the difference between the two?

IMO, the main difference is the labor cost. LDO's are hand-wired on a perf-board. MD's are hand-wired on a PCB. Oh...and the paint on the LDO's is a little fancier :D. I think the components are a little different, but I bet you couldn't *hear* the difference.

Both great pedals...I've a/b'd them and they are very close. Two of my favorites pedals ever.

The Mojo Drive is a great pedal.. I find myself using all three positions of the switch. Ethan also cares about his product and provides great customer service.

Its a great pedal, and lets be honest. If the Mojo Drive had a three year wait list and cost $400 everyone would want one. This is not meant as a dis on any builders, but just the simple quantity supplied quantity demanded theory at play.

Hand wired on a "printed circuit board", that's a first.

Hand wired on a "printed circuit board", that's a first.

Hand-soldered...whatever. The components are placed by hand into some sort of machine-made, plastic/fiberglass/etc board with the pads and traces already in place...then they are soldered...by a hand or two, connected to a person...to the pads on the board...what's that called? Then, the traces on the board are connected by wires, through soldering by hand, to the pots, jacks, switches, power supply etc. Finally, hands connect cords to the pedal and guitars and amps and plink on the strings making nice noises. Point being...lots of hand work involved, but not quite as much as the LDO.

But, the more important point is they are both great pedals that sound great (and, Ethan is, in fact, a great guy to deal with).

As I have already stated in a few other threads:

The Mojo went straight to my board and sent the
Landgraff to the display cabinet.

The LDO and LMD are very similar sounding and
at stage volumes you will never notice a difference.
At home one can notice that the LMD is just a little
bit more noisy at high (past 3) tone settings.

I love my Mojo-drive, it is like a SLO in a box. Ethan has been incredibly supportive of his products and his wah mods are old world great.

Great sounding pedal...I find the LDO has a bit more punch.

Chupa has more gain and sounds a bit fatter (probably more bottom end). When I had both, I tended to have the Chupa dialed down a notch in gain with a brighter setting on the tone knob to achieve a similar tone between the two.

Which of the two would be better for Govt Mule tones (specifically Dose)? I'm really interested in both pedals. I'm playing a strat and lp through a drri and already have a Timmy and a Zendrive. I'd like to pick up whichever would get the big, fat tones I'm looking for and would be a nice compliment to my existing dirt.

If the Chupacabra would get Haynes tones and have the ability to turn up the gain and get heavier tones as well, that might just be the ticket.

LoveKraft sounds like they make awesome stuff!

Anyone compare the Abunai2 to the Mojodrive?

How muhc gain does Chup have compared to the Brownie or BIASBII? How do they differ in gain, and voicing?

I dont know which would do mule better. the chup is a grittier dirt. It almost makes me want to get rid of my fuzzhead, when I turn it up. It actually has a bit more balls.
The mojo is a creamier sound, and it has output for days. If you want a mules' sound,,, i dunno, buy a soldano?

buy them both... theyre both different tools, but so well made, you wont be sorry. My the stealth if you need to conserve... something like 130 shipped... and the the deluxe swirly is 180 shipped... not bad at all. better than 400, and I think the paint jobs can be just as cool as landgraff. If seen some pretty bad ones.

all kidding aside, I might have to say the mojo is what you want for something like mule

Chupa for Mule tones...I've compared the Chupa to an SLO....and I'd take the Chupa (or Landy's MO'D).

I don't have a/b clips of the Chupa and Mojo, but here is an a/b clip of the Landgraff Dynamic Overdrive and MO'D which should give an idea of the differences. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=5273489
