Tone Merchants has graciously provided their "Back Room" for a showcase of Scumback Speakers, Southbay Amps, and WCR pickups on Saturday, July 26th from 12-6 pm.

I will have the Scumnicos, and my M, H & XH series speakers there to demo, plus a JTM 45, 50 watt Plexi, a quad EL 84 Gibson Goldtone and the Southbay Major Crunch amp head, too. Noel Evangelista, manager of Tone Merchants, has been kind enough to offer up the other amp brands he carries to try out with speaker cabinets and guitars as well. This included 65 Amps, Germino Amps, TopHat, Suhr and many others.

Jim Wagner of WCR will be down with a few guitars and some of his pickups to demo and have a few for sale. I'll be bringing a a couple choice guitars to demo, including my 63 Fool SG replica, and a Keebler Les Paul Replica.

The event will be held in TM's "Back Room" which is like going to a decent sized club with a sound enhanced room, with seating for about 50-100 people.

http://www.tonemerchants.com/image/tonemecca/tm_mecca_stage.jpg

I will be hiring a bass player and drummer for players to try out gear at gig volumes to see how it works for you.

I encourage those who haven't heard Scumbacks through your favorite amp and guitar to bring down your guitar and amp head, and give them a try.

As always at a WCR/Scumback event, there will be free Hebrew National hot dogs, mustard, paper towels and Tecate beers to go with them. There is no charge for the event, or the hot dogs & beer.

So mark your calendars for Saturday, July 26th from 12-6 pm and come down and checkout some great gear to improve your tone!

I am taking a couple of cabs down to Tone Merchants before the actual 7/26 event. Yesterday I showed up with some old wood, a 68 slant that I recovered with new tolex but left the old cloth on...fitted with four M75 25 watt speakers.

There will be discounts on speakers for those attending, whether they're in stock or ordered in. Just thought I'd mention that.

Geek, sorry you can't make it!

Right now it looks like we have a great backup band for folks to sit in with. We'll have Billy Yates (ex-Outlaws) and Jeff Jourard (ex-Motels and Tom Petty) in to play some guitar for us.

There will be a $20 per speaker discount on Scumbacks, whether they're in stock or ordered the day of the show.

And...well you know...

Hebrew National hot dogs, and Tecate beers gratis of WCR & Southbay.

Starts at noon on Saturday, ends at 6 pm. Look forward to meeting everyone in the local area that can make it.

I've got the backup band ready to do some songs and informal jamming as well. Sample list below, but feel free to ask to play with them at the event. I don't want to do all the singing (besides I suck at singing and playing...LOL).

There are five 4x12 cabs, plus some 2x12's and one 1x12 down at Tone Merchants. I spent about 2.5 hours dialing in the various amps, cabs and double checking the tone.

Happy to say that all went well. I'll have a Major Crunch combo and Capt Crunch combo setup in one of the smaller rooms for demos as well.

Looks like we're all dialed with a backup band for those who want to try out the amps/cabs in a live setting, or for some informal jamming.

Doors open at noon, close at 6 pm. Hope to see a few of you there.

Since other forums felt jilted that the California locals are getting a "1 Day Sale" price, I'm knocking off $20 per speaker on orders placed today for any speakers ordered on July 26th, 2008. This applies to any speakers in stock, or that have to be ordered.

Just go to the website (www.scumbackspeakers.com), place your order and I'll refund $20 to your paypal account or credit card.

This sale price is good until midnight PST. Any orders received after that will be back to regular price.

Have a great weekend!

So how did it go?

Southbay Ampworks

Pretty well. Not a huge turnout, perhaps 40-50 people all day, with usually 12-15 there at any time. I'm going through the video right now to see if the audio is going to be usable.

First audio clip that was usable. :drink 4 Tecate beers & two hot dogs later my voice and playing weren't the best, but hell, I'm 50 now...so it's not too bad for the AARP qualified.

With that disclaimer in place...;)
