Hi,
FirebirdV (George) from the Washington DC area. I've been playing 35 years, currently in indie/garage, original R&R band, The New Standard. Check out our MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/newstandard.
After starting out and paying dues in local bar bands in the early '70s I did the Top 40 thing for a while to earn my keep and ended up as the guitarist with Gary U.S. Bonds - that gig was a real eye-opener for a 22-year old!
After a few more 'jam bands', I formed my first original band - The Penetrators. We were well known in the DC underground music scene from 1977-80, still remembered today. Since 1981 with The New Standard, now playing out once a month or so and recently started working on a new CD. In 1981 we put out a 45, in 1983 we put out an album. We took a few years off a while back to start families and 'get responsible.' In 2002 we released our first CD compilation.
Equipment includes a white '91 Firebird V (I had a 1963 Firebird III years ago and this 'new' one is really nice too), a black '87 Les Paul Custom, a cherry red '07 VOS SG Special (really nice, feels just like a NEW '61), and a heavily relic'ed MIM Strat which looks and feels like it's 50 years old! Use a Marshall 1959SLP 100-watt Super Lead plexi and 1960AX 4-12" cab and, among other things, am waiting on a Sweet Sound 'Monterey Fuzz' which I just ordered last week. Glad to be here... George
