Rectifier Tubes GT-5Y3 versus 5AR4 Interchangable?

Are these 2 tubes interchangeable? If I have an amp that uses GT-5Y3 rectifier, can I substitute a 5AR4 tube and visa-versa?

Probably not unless you want to damage the amp.

Depends on whether the filter caps and the power transformer can handle it. The questions is really amp specific. Tell us the amp and I suspect Mike will be able to tell you in a heartbeat whether or not such a change would be doable.
