best demos out there hands down... and those G&L guitars are freaking beautiful.
one thing ive noticed though is the pedals they demo can usually be found for 20-30$ less on musictoyz or pedalgeek
i feel kinda bad getting sold on something through one of their vids and then buying from someone else, but i kinda wonder if they think they can do it and just get away with it without people noticing the markup

Forgive the directness, but anyone who thinks they can sell on the net and not be competitive on price is a fool. It's just too easy to go elsewhere.

I would be interested in exactly which pedals you are referring to. We set our prices at the manufacturers minimum advertised price. We are EXTREMELY competitive on price. Please respond with the exact products because I would honestly like to know.

What is equally important for me when buying pedals is customer service. Bought my first pedal from Proguitarshop recently, and they exceeded all expectations. Allthough I didn't keep the pedal, I know from which online seller to get the next one :AOK.

Great demos guys really!
I love every single one of them, especially the demo on the Moogerfooger Analog Delay, your demo taught me some things I could never learn just from reading the manual! :D
Thanks for taking the effort to record these.
The way they are done is just absolutely perfect!

Love the vids, but I can always get a new pedal for cheaper through ebay stores.
eg. stereo memory man w/ hazarai for $185 instaed of $214
POG for $295 instead of $324
EMMA discumbobulator for $170 instead of $195.
FYI - While I found these prices advertised by ebay stores, I bought all of them from another online pedal retailer with a great price matching policy.
What's Pro Guitar Shop's price match policy like?
thanks.
FYI: Go add the POG to your cart and see what the price is. Try it with all of our EH pedals. BTW you can't get new EH pedals on eBay anymore. EH banned eBay sales.

And the demos are some of the best on the net. The only others that I watch repeatedly are done by Fatback and thats for pure entertainment value.

Another hand-fan chiming in... great work from Mr. Andy Martin, and I wouldn't be surprised if he were offered a guest-spot on The Simpsons, because his voice is so distinctive and recognizable. Or maybe a hand-spot in a lotion commercial. Give the man his props. Oh, and he made me want to play "The Rover" again (was that the Superfuzz demo?).

whoa, hey, remember I started off my post with a big compliment for you guys. but what I said is not inaccurate at all. I had to leave for the night, didn't realize i'd be having to stick around all day to defend myself against a company ive sank a fair amount of money into.
So, just so you don't think I'm talking shit without anything to back it up-
Frantone pedals (Sandwich, Cream Puff, Vibutron especially):
@ PGS- http://www.proguitarshop.com/company.php?CompanyID=59
@ MT- http://www.musictoyz.com/guitar/pedals/frantone.php
Red Witch Pedals (all except Empress Chorus)
@ PGS- http://www.proguitarshop.com/company.php?CompanyID=44
@ MT- http://www.musictoyz.com/guitar/pedals/redwitch.php
Ok, so with said, I did see plenty of pedals priced just the same and a couple at MT that were like 10$ more than their PGS counterpart. So I know this stuff varies, and maybe its just because I've been looking at Frantone and Red Witch Pedals a lot so I noticed these in particular, but its a fact, pretty clear when you see those links.
PGS--I'm a huge fan of your demos and of your company. I've bought from you before. I'd buy from you again in a heartbeat--maybe a G&L or a 65 sometime in the future, even. But to be honest, I think you owe me an apology, or I suppose I can take my business elsewhere and not feel quite so bad about it. I wasn't trying to attack you with falsities, I was pointing out the cold hard truth. :tapedshut
If anyone agrees with me, please bump this thread through the morning so the PGS guys can see it. I mean no disrespect, honestly. Like I said before, best demos on the net, hands down. I'm also happy to re-word my original post-- I said pedals "usually" can be found cheaper. If you think "sometimes" is a more accurate description, fair enough. Let's both be real here.

MusicToyz is in violation of his dealer agreement with Frantone and Red Witch, and is at risk of loosing his dealership with both. You found maybe eight products out of roughly 1000. That is not even 1%. That is why I said your statement is not accurate. But yes you are correct on those particular products, they are lower. I will not jeopardize my dealerships by violating my dealer agreement with the manufacturers. I run a clean business. On the other hand you will notice that we offer a 45 day price match guarantee. We just can't advertise those prices.
Sorry if I sounded brash, but we work our ass off to be competitive. We also work our ass of to provide better service, and provide value added free resources. I certainly do not want the perception of our video audience to be that we are overpriced. Again, no hard feelings or disrespect, I am just stating my point of view.

Their prices are totally on par... if not better in some cases.
And as Aaron said, some discounts can only be applied once the item is added to your shipping cart.
Regardless, the quality of their demo vids made me want to buy from them. The exercise shows they're interested in educating the customer in a meaningful, useful way. I'm sure they're aware people watch the vids then come to TGP or HC classifieds (or eBay or craigslist) to buy gear. Still, they distribute high quality reviews, for free!
They're doing a great service to the community and I'm thankful for it!

proguitarshop.com is excellent.
Competitive pricing
Spectacular Service
Accurate postings of whats in stock and what isn't ( some " boutique " dealers aren't real good at this without mentioning names )
very quick shipping
excellent communication ( answering questions and email notifications of shipment etc, )
I have bought several pedals from them and have nothing but 100 satisfaction on the service, communication and pricing.
They are a model business is you ask me and my compliments to the mangmt there ( I'm in mangmt at " the day job " - so I always respect a well run business ).

You sounded very unprofessional. You say I only found a few examples, but I'm not going to waste time scouring your site for every little price difference. I found several, and while you can minimize that (and I am happy to agree that your pedals are not overpriced *in general*) there is also no way to know that another site is selling for below cost or that your price is the "correct" one even when another site's is lower. And for god's sake, its not like anybody wants to put MT out of business either.
You guys are running a great business. But you really shouldn't come after anyone with a criticism for you on the internet and get in their face about it. Everything I said was based on a personal experience which was 100% factual and you basically brushed everything I had to say off and had very little respect for me personally. Your demos, product lineup, and shipping speeds are all A++ efforts. I'm not sure where getting really defensive on an internet board falls into that business model. Don't throw your customer under the bus just because he points out something you don't like. Shooting the messenger, and all that, ya know?

Condescending much? He was right to say something first of all, maybe not as much as he did. But HOW else is he supposed to combat unfair or anti-competitive business practices by others?
Yes, I would give him my business now more than ever personally, not only for great customer service in the videos they provide, but further because they are apparently honorable in more ways than one (don't screw their customers OR their manufacturers).
Personally, I don't think that he needs the agida from "potential" customers like you.

I didn't intend to insult them in the first place--I simply pointed something out that was in fact true. Then I got taken to task for it, unfarily, imo. But I'm not trying to drag this out any further. As I've said in nearly every post now, PGS does a great job. I'll leave it at that. I watch their demos constantly and will continue to. But if I see something for a better price somewhere else, I'm gonna pay that price. I don't really see anything too outlandish about that, and that was my original point.

Sure! I'll just post pic's of the behind the scene's process, and the gear that we use. This is The Gear Page after all. BTW it was this forum that got us to realize that there was such a big need for these demos. It was also this forum that made us realize that the sound quality and the integrity of the recordings was going to be our top priority. This info will help you understand how we achieved that.

I just had to jump in here - I've never purchased a pedal from Pro Guitar Shop, I actually haven't watched any of the demos either. I HAVE been looking into buying a Cream Puff recently and that's how I stumbled upon this thread. I was actually planning on buying one from Music Toyz...but I'm a little concerned now that there is talk of them losing their license w/ Framptone???? Or maybe I should jump on the below suggested price NOW before it gets bumped up because of legal issues???
For the record, I have had nothing but good experience with Music Toyz...I visited their store a few years back and the guy let me try nearly every dirt pedal he had in the warehouse, very nice and very helpful guy who runs a great site and provides a good service. I've bought several products from them with no problems. But it seems that Pro Guitar Shop is a respectable dealer as well, so I'm wondering if I should be concerned in dealing w/ Music Toyz now that Pro Guitar Shop seems to be suggesting that they are not running a clean business??? It's been a couple years since I've done business with them so I'm wondering: have things changed over there in the last couple years??? New ownership???
IS MUSIC TOYZ A DIRTY BUISNESS???

Seriously though, thanks for the great demos! There's nothing worse than looking online for a demo or clip of a pedal, and finding an annoying demo that is a lot of times one dimensional as far as pedal settings(let's see what the pedal will do, not what one setting on the pedal will do, haha!), etc., and has poor camera work, sound quality, or annoying jibber jabber. My developers have been working on setting up a dedicated server, programming a PGS hosted video library and an iTunes RSS feed all week this week. We are actually running a week behind already. I am hoping that the project is complete at the beginning of next week. We will then need to upload all of the raw video files to our server and iTunes before the new video library and podcasts go live. I am guessing a week to ten days. I am at the mercy of my developers at this point.

The ProGuitarShop videos are invaluable to me...best video demos on the web I've ever seen and heard. So far, the only thing I've bought from them was the OCD v.4 and it was as every bit as good as they made it out to be. Someone mentioned earlier about them being priced too high or something...nonsense. Everything I've ever looked up was either right on par with Musician's Friend or lower. Even more impressive was the shipping time...it got here so quickly I almost couldn't believe it.

I haven't purchased anything from PGS (yet!), but I definitely will. The demos rock-- much more thorough than anything I've ever seen. All the nuances of each pedal explained completely, etc. Kudos to Aaron for showing some class and restraint too. Future customers are taking notice!

:BEERYeah, awesome demos! ..."unity gain is about... 1 o'clock".. hehehe.. These guys rock! The videos are very helpful to me since I don't have the opportunity to try most of the pedals I want. ...That and wandering around in this forum... Thanks guys!
Cheers!
I've bought 3 pedals from PGS and returned 1 after finding out it wouldn't work for me. Between there no-hassle return policy, fair pricing and high quality videos with pointing finger they have more than earned my business.

Thanks for the update.:banana

I am pretty sure that Andy's favorite overdrive is the OCD. The funny thing is, he used to build them! I think that is the only OD that he is playing. He also has an original Orange OD120, a couple of Marshall clones, a TTE and numerous guitars.

I really dig the video's too. When I first got an internet feed in my "mansion" (which, believe it or not, was only about a year and a half ago), I searched around like crazy looking for any demos I could find (real pedal demos, and not just some dude trying to demo his sweep-picking prowess on a fuzzface). I had recently hopped on the boutique bandwagon, and I was eager to educate myself on all things toneworthy. Without pointing any fingers, I noticed some things about a lot of the demos I found online; particularly how the player(s) would not always play in a style that benefits the pedal. He/She would be plugged into some Tonebender clone, and start playing Metallica. Then you get the guy who plays the same licks no matter what he's plugged into. The Pro Guitar demos aren't like that at all. And besides, in the end, the more high quality demos a merchant makes available, the more gear that merchant is ultimately going to sell. It's just good business. And the more you tailor each demo around the particular product, the more educated the consumer becomes, which means less "mistake" purchases. And that works for everyone.
I hope other music dealers will take notice of this, and try and up the anti.
BTW, it's either "the finger" or "the arrow". I'll take the finger.

Hey I keep forgetting to give you an update on what is ahead for us.
I just ordered another custom built sound booth for increasing video production. We will be expanding the types of videos that we produce. You will begin to see guitars, amps, and lessons. We haven't done many amp videos primarily because of the restricted size of our current booth.
Anyways, Andy will continue to do pedals, and he will also do all amplifiers. You will see some new faces for the guitar and lessons videos. Now that I think about it, you don't actually see Andy's face, just his finger and his furry forearms. Look for the new videos in about six weeks.
We will also be doing some comparison videos very soon. Comparing obvious pedals like the OCD and the Crunch Box. (We see the never ending threads with this comparison) We will also do some stacking videos. Such as the Xotic pedals that were designed to be stacked together.

Keep up the good work! What I like about the demos is how that Andy guy plays stuff best suited for the pedal...even a bit of a certain song here and there, some chords, some lead...puts the sound itself into perspective that kinda gets lost playing blues licks ONLY.
.....
I looked at yr international shipping prices and they seemed a touch on the more expensive side @ $37. EDIT:looked again right now and it's $34. I mean, it really ain't much more than average $30-ish but looks a bit off-putting.
EDIT: after visiting USPS website and calculating weight/shipping prices the pricing is more than fair especially considering the full insurance! Sorry, guess I was just thinkin' out loud.
Anyway...keep rocking!!!! You're really breaking new ground when it comes to this business!

another cool thing I just noticed is that PGS has an Amazon storefront. This is cool because:
1- my family uses the wishlist option
2- I use an Amazon credit card for business expenses and usually get a $25 gift certificate once a month. I save them up, and then can buy some nice stuff!

would be interested in their favorite pedals too,

Andy has a great job, and does a great job. These demos set the standard and PGS has a huge jump on other dealers because of them IMO. I will definitely give them my business, but the last 3 pedals I bought were out of stock at PGS. Oh well, more purchases in the future will be happening as long as my band keeps on gigging.
Watching these demos is so much fun, and if you're not careful, you might learn something. PGS demos = better than TV!

Man what a tough question. I am as bad as everyone else on this forum, I am constantly swapping out pedals. But here goes.
Light OD/Boost: Durham Electronics Sex Drive/Catalinbread Silver Kiss
Heavier OD/Distortion: OCD/Crunch Box
Fuzz: Malekko
Delay: MP DBD, I am also a big fan of the Subdecay Echo Box.
Chorus: Red Witch Empress
Compression: Retro Sonic Compressor/ Barber Tone Press
Vibe: Option 5 Destination Rotation
Tremolo: Catalinbread Semaphore/Cusack Tap a Whirl
And in two weeks that will completely change. :rotflmao

How do you feel between the EchoBox and the Reptile?? :stir
Uh... you just had to go there didn't ya.
I like the spill over option on the Echobox and the fact that you can easily coax it into self oscillation. I find the Echobox to be very reminiscent of a tape echo. It seems a bit warmer and more analog sounding than the Reptile. Both are excellent pedals, but I personally give the nod to the Echobox.
I know there is going to be a Reptile user that feeds me to the lions now. :hide

haha no its not like that. i actually asked b/c i was GASing for the echobox then GASing equally for the reptile. my G/f ordered the reptile as a gift for me, and ill be trying it in a few weeks. I wanted the trails from the echobox and the foot switch on/off of the reptile. I emailed t rex and they told me that the reptile DOES have trails; but your post makes me wonder b/c ive never heard anyone else say or mention that feature. also, i have found out that the modulation is still on with the reptile when its rolled up, the switch just changes the modulation.
i have heard the echobox changes the tone when engaged, havent heard about the reptile. The reptile is not true bypass so ill be paying attention when i get it. echobox is only non-true bypass when in trails mode. true bypass isnt a concern so long my tone isnt damaged o changed in a negative way
long stroy short, when i asked my gf to order the reptile, i felt as though i was making the better decision. but some things have been coming to light that makes me think i should have gone with the echobox. I guess i'll see when i get it!

I love those demo videos. It was eating up a lot of time up at work.
Anyway, I watched them so much for research but ended buying from the emporium. Out of guilt I made sure I made purchase from Pro Guitar Shop.
I got the deluxe electric mistress, even though there is no demo for it. And it was at a great price.
Kudos on a great service and business. Keep up the great work.

I've looked around for shops like this one that sell and demo
some of the nicer pedals...and I found PGS...only PGS.
No one else does anything as cool as those demos.
After perusing YouTube, I'll see other people's demos and think
"man this demo sucks!" after watching enough proguitarshop demos. :)
The only thing about them that gets to you after a while
IS THE FINGER MAN
IT'S THE FINGER!
Keep up the good work! It makes me feel like I played the pedal for a few
minutes and really got a feel for what it was.
Thanks!

I just want to say thanks for all of the support guys. We REALLY appreciate it. It makes us confident in our plans to double production on the videos. We will be adding videos of guitars, amps, and lessons soon.
We also have developed plans to build another online resource for the guitar community.
Look for production of the videos to double in about six weeks. That is when our custom built sound booth will arrive. We will be producing 80-100 videos a month. :AOK

the vids are great, but i think theres some pretty clear evidence in this thread that the customer service is debatable. dont dare point out simple facts about the company or their practices that they don't want you to notice or their president will come after you like a teen-aged internet warrior with personal attacks and distortions. classy. :mob
anyway, keep making the vids, Andy does great work.

The demos are real informative, but IMO they never get a GREAT tone out of the OD pedals.... Maybe it's the amp. I'm more of a Fender Amp guy, but I also dig the tones of Scott Henderson, Michael Landau and AC/DC.....
It's great that they always use the same amp, I just wish it was another...
