Okay guys, I love pedals, and I run clean amps usually. I just can't justify buying a Two Rock, no matter how much I want one, it's just too much money right now (I'm a teenager, which means I have no money). I need a higher wattage amp for it, my Fender HR isn't cutting it anymore. I want an amp with a Fender-like clean, 'cause I use the clean in conjunction with effects most of the time. I know the Fender TRRI is a good choice, but I just want to know if there are any better options out there before I buy one. I don't want to go over 2K, albeit, I will buy used amps. Any high wattage clean amps I should try out?
Thanks!

Hmm...I'd suggest at least looking at a Victoria if you can find one, or maybe the Dr. Z EZG-50. Out of those two, I've only played a few of the Victorias, but I've loved all the ones I've played by them. Good stuff.

Where do you live? You should check into a Silver Face Fender. Bassman 50 , Pro Reverb, Dual Showman, etc. etc. Any of these amps will give you the clean headroom (some more than others) you are looking for. They will also last for many years to come. Your HRDx is a good amp, but will never match the quality of the SF amps I have mentioned.

The obvious reply--Twin Reverb--king of clean and high wattage, too. Get a Silverface for cheap...use the extra cash to buy yerself more pedals...also, put some cash aside for going to the gym--yer gonna need muscles to lift the thing coz it weighs a ton!
O, yeah, just had another thought--Tone King amps--I always thought they had nice cleans...

I don't know exact price, but it'll be in the 3k+ range.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for telling me...
It gets my perfect tone...albeit, I wonder what pedal he used...

I looked at the tag line, it seems like he was using a Keeley Compressor and a Katana. The Katana is a clean boost, if you didn't already know. I too love the sound of those Savage's, Nels Cline from Wilco likes them quite a bit, and I love his tone.

Oh, thanks! Man, if I had the money...a Twin with pedals is great, sure, but that Savage amp is perfect (for me, at least).

Easy, early silverface Super Reverb or Twin. Hell, for 2k, you may even be able to find a blackface. Superb cleans and they take pedals real well. Plus, they'll always be worth some money since everybody knows what an old Fender is.

I actually have a SF Bassman Head. Normally, I use my Powerblock for my clean tones. However, it's in the shop under waranty repair service. So I've been using the Bassman. I noticed that the sound gets a little gritty when pushed. I am coming to the conclusion that unless I use a Fender Twin or Showman, a tube amp isn't going to give me the headroom I need.

The only thing better than a TRRI is a BF/SF Twin or Showman or Dual Showman.

Why not send your HR to Omega Amps for their modification? From what I've heard, you can get boutique tone from your current amp for about $300. That may address the overdrive tone rather than clean headroom, though. Speaker upgrades would be another idea to consider.

Well, I've actually found a good deal on a Two Rock CRS from a friend locally, so I'll be buying that in a few weeks/months. After that though (and once I actually get some money again... :D), I plan on sending it to Jim. Any recommendations speaker-wise? I haven't seen any interesting replacements....

Unfortunately, I don't have speaker recommendations for you in this instance. I don't recall you saying whether you have a 1x12 or a 4x10. I'd still defer to people that are more knowledgeable about speakers, though.

It's a 4/10. I was thinking about these...

I'm just worried about how they'll handle overdrive.
