Hi Folks,

So. Cal. blues slide guitar extraordinaire, Stan West, recently stopped by Strings Music in Glendora, California and recorded these soulful improvised solo tracks. Stan plugged his modified Les Paul copy with EMG active pickups into the Faustine VT-55 (35 watts, 1-15" alnico) and the VT-57 (35 watts, 3-10" alnicos). Signal path was guitar - cable -amplifier. No fx or processing was used. Stan achieves his tone with his fingers and the guitar's volume controls.

Both amps were set up the same. Normal channel input 1: volume 3, bass 6, treble 7, presence 5, attenuator engaged and set at 9 o'clock (approx. 4 to 5 watts ouput). Amps were mic'd with a Shure SM57 off-axis and a Shure SM58 was pointed at the back of the shop for ambience. All tracks were recorded direct into a Roland VS-840GX digital recorder and edited with Cool Edit Pro with no fx or eq added. These clips are excerpts from the original longer tracks.
