Guitar pots puzzle

Hi there. I won a gretsch 6114 jet and recently changed the electronics on the guitar. After tha change something weird happened. All pots crackle whenever I turn them. These are brand new pots. The weird part is, the crackles stop if I touch the strings with my hand. So sounds like and earthing problem. Anybody can give me a clue on whats happening? Thanks

is the ground from the electronics tapped to the bridge mounts? if they arent grounded to the strings its gunna make it hum

The electronics are grounded to the tailpiece

You've verified this ground by checking everything from the jack, to the tuners, to the pots and the tailpiece with a meter?
