Here are some clips that you guys may find helpful or interesting at the very least.

The lowdown.
A port city 2x12OS cab with a v30 and a Cele Gold.
A bogner OS 2x12 open back cab with 2 cele blues.
A Bogner Shiva with maxed gain and boost.
A Budda sd18 with maxed gain and mid pulled with the vol pot mod drive halfway...treble maxed

The amps the way I have set them sound very similar indeed.
The speakers make the biggest difference.....Amazing how much of a difference speakers make.
The main diff between the amps is that the sd18 is tighter with a quicker response and a more percussive pick attack
and obviously the sd18 darker so I had to max the treble to bring it up to shiva brightness.
Mike placings are identical for both cabs and amps.
Played with the same riff and then a lead thingy just to get the articulation aspect of each speaker.

Let me know which you liked and what you didn't like....and your impressions of this lil test.
Does it confirm some of your own findings or is it contradictory.

Here are the samples:]

Good stuff! Both sound great. Great tone and playing.

I like the tone of the Budda better in all the clips - but, I'm probably a little biased as I'm a Budda owner! Something about the Budda's tone seems to breath a little more or somethign.

Speakers: My ears liked the V30 clips the best - which surprised me. It had more of that upper midrange tone that I like. I liked the Blue next, then the Gold. All the clips sounded great. Great job.

Thanks bro

I do these clips from time to time because listening to the speakers live is not always the best way to judge which speakers you are liking the most.

One day you think the v30s are heppening and then the next day the gold is happening and then the weather changes and then suddenly your g12demented is starting to cook...he he

Great chops! It was contradictory to what I had expected. In theory, I thought the Golds would fit best, however it was the V30s...then the Blues. I may have to re-think my approach for my SD18 and get the V30s out of the closet. Weird! Thanks for posting those.

The Budda/Blue was my fav. It seemed to have just enough definition without being harsh or muddy.

Great lick BTW!

great comparison, really nice playing!

I liked the Budda V30's best. Although I thought the golds weremore scooped. Part of the beauty of the Budda is it's dark tone . I have an SD18 watt on the way to complement my SD30

They were all good and I'd think your results will be 100% subjective. The Shiva was definitely more 80's like but very cool as well.

Great post!
i liked the Budda/Blue and the Budda/V30 the most.

there's somthing in the V30 that you don't always hear, but it is magical in recording.

Nice clips.
The SD18/V30 combo may sound better if you push in the mid pull. The mid pull adds lots of bass and treble that sounds scooped on some speakers.

i like the v 30's , my preference is shiva- bogner os closed back with v30's , used an open back avatar with hellatone 60's for 2 years and almost sold my les paul . then i got the OS cab and what a difference .

i like both the budda and the shiva w v 30's, good stuff!

Well it seems to be a a V30 market out there.
I must add this is a very well broken in V30 so it is playing nice and smooth actually.
V30's really do smooth out on the top-end after a few years of gigging them.

I tell you the v30 and gold are really different.
They sound really full together in the same cab......Just don't know which one to mike at the gig.

Gold for the clean.......Gold and v30 for the drive.......V30 for leads and heavy gain.....Yeah I should take two mikes....
Maybe bring my brother Mike along three.....he he

Hey I mike just do that

I've owned a Shiva and considered a Budda for a long time. But I bought my RV50. My favorite 3 amps for sure out of the huge market we have today.

V30's sound real good too. The Gold kinda/sorta reminds me of the Scumback M75's in a way. And I'm surprised you didn't blow up those Blues with the Shiva.
