New to the forum. Here's my first question. Anyone own the Orange Rocker 30 combo? I ordered it sight unseen due to the love I have for my Tiny Terror. I am hoping it has the TT vibe with more power. Can anyone verify this?

It has much more to work with than the TT. The Natural channel has much more clean headroom than you can ever get with a Tiny Terror and is voiced more like an AD30. The Dirty Channel gets into the Tiny Terror and beyond category. Great two channel amp!

PM me if you are interested in the combo.

Unfortunately I had a $1000 store credit where I ordered the R30, mainly from previous gear trade-ins. I would have loved to find one used but I was kinda stuck!!:jo

It's a good quality amp - but not the most versatile unless you use pedals on the clean channel (like most new Oranges, the dirty channel is picky with pedals). I owned the combo, which was super portable and lightweight.

I actually tried one the other day side by side with a TT through the little Orange 1x12. TT had *way* more mojo. Either way, I ended up with the RV 50.

Why did you like the RV 50 better than both? More power? Effects loop? reverb? All of the above? Other?

Funny, I traded in my RV50 for a Rocker 30, then sold the Rocker when I got my TT. The Rocker has a nicer tone than the TT, IMHO, but they cover some of the same ground.

The RV50 is a completely different tone with the 6v6's. I don't particularly need the power or the loop, and the reverb is absolutely terrible. (longest decay ever) I just really dug the tone. Great harmonics and perfect crunch. I'm glad I finally bought one. I've been GASing for one ever since I played one at a GC about 2 years ago. Plus I didn't previously own a 6V6 amp.
The 30 I played sounded kind of dull. Almost like it needed new tubes (possible). The harmonics weren't jumping out at me like the 50, and I'd put it much more in the vintage marshall crunch camp. (the 50 has its own thing going on)
And then I was *really* impressed by the great tones coming out of the Tiny Terror. I especially liked the light-breakup tones with the gain at about 1 oclock. I will definitely be picking one up in the next few months (once the 50 is paid off)
Proof again that I just love EL84s.

I played the combo in a store. It sounded great. I was surprised how heavy it was, but it's probably built pretty stoutly. I also really liked a Rockerverb 100 half-stack. Haven't heard any other Orange amps.
I think you'll like your combo!
