our buddy got a new camcorder with low light settings and (an obvious)zoom lense, ugh! :messedup
hence the following live vid(CLOSE UP...way too close for comfort!)
monday night jamz @ the baked potato in studio city, cali, july '08...
using a robin savoy with arcane pickups slamming into a diamond phantom(going back and forth between both gain settings on the crunch channel)....

it's the first noize of the evening and we're jamming on some modal thingee, frenetically attempting to work out the cobwebs and shtuff!
george is still trying to figure out the audio levels of his camera, but overall this is the sound of the rig....and what the old paws are up to.
it's a blast to share...enjoy! :drink

The playing and sound inspired me to check out Robin guitars--what a sound!
I expected to see some "nostril" shots or something the way you said up close and personal--but the camera work was very good, captured some good zoom on the fretboard with nice hand work.

ohhh, the trumpet/ewi player, mitch manker, gets plenty of room to throw down with us.
he is a monster musician with TONS of chops too...scary good. :worried
anyone that's seen/heard him knows what's up....
he's a very inspirational dude.
plus, he plays his horns through a marshall and a pedalboard!:dude

the guitar is a Robin Savoy as stated in a previous post....
http://www.robinguitars.com/savoy_classic.html
the actual model i have is from '04, called a "Pro"...
it's basically their "classic" model with a satin nitro finish.
and the pickups are from Arcane...

thanx SL! i'm very fortunate to be able to play with fantastic dudes, especially those that put up with me each week! lol
hey you should try a Robin Savoy, you may like em.
think half 335 / half les paul....
and really REALLY easy to play...with access all the way up the neck!
i love mine a lot, and can't wait to get another!

thanx very much to all you fellow axe slingers!
i totally appreciate that y'all check out the videos, AND take the time to post replies!
cheers to ya! :drink
so here's another clip from the same evening, this time a little more warmed up,
jamming on the oldschool groove "hazard profile"....a favorite cool tune to play on! i'm meandering about going through a few different pedals on my LA Sound Design Boardzilla during the first part of the extended excursion, eventually settling into(and spazzing out on) the Diamond lead tone....
http://www.johnzguitar.com/JZmonjamzhazsolo.wmv (http://www.johnzguitar.com/JZmonjamzhazsolo.wmv)
the file size is a little bigger than usual, because of the length of the jamz.... it's pretty damn long, and as usual noisy too! :Devil
hope y'all check it out, thanx again and enjoy!

and now for something (kinda)different.
from the same set, scribbling on an old beatley tune....
http://www.johnzguitar.com/JZmonjamznorwood.wmv (http://www.johnzguitar.com/JZmonjamznorwood.wmv)
the cleaner side of the diamond amp, with a little boss vibrato, some tycobrahe octavia, and lexicon stuff.
a kinder gentler approach.... :YinYang

Great stuff John! I'm watching the first clip now and really digging the tone and the playing. I see Jamie's there too. I've seen him play with ZPZ a bunch and really enjoy his playing.

Hey JZ, that was fu**ing sick dude!!! I really, really enjoyed it a lot. Like Joe, I plan to watch it a dozen more times. Killer playing and that Robin/Diamond duo is fantastic. Diamond amps have intrigued me since I first became aware of them, now even more-so. Thanks for the G.A.S. pains - damn you John Ziegler, damn you!!!! LOL.
Absolutely sick video. Thank you so much for posting it for us. I appreciate and dig it big time. I'm so stoked about the whole Diamond Amps lust but what the heck!!!???!!! Very cool. I would love to see/hear more from the Robin/Diamond rig. Guess what I'm going to do after I watch this video a few times...if you guessed research Diamond Amps, you're are a winner!!!! Damn you John Ziegler - damn you. LOL!!!!!
Great job man!!! That was hot.
