I was looking for a 125A6A for my Bandmaster. I ran across this site:

Vibroworld (http://www.vibroworld.com/parts/tech5.html)

Anyone know about these? Any good?

Maybe a better question is: what's the best 125A6A clone out there?

Or if someone has a 1966 125A6A for sale, I'd be interested in it... :)

Good luck with that! If you find one, it'll make a Mercury Magnetics tranny look cheap ;)

There was one on eBay that closed last night. It had a going bid of $70 within 30 seconds of close. I bid $100. Lost the bid at $202. Learnt my lesson on that one. I should have known that $100 was too good to be true. The snipers were out with cannons on that one.

I can tell you that Vibroworld has had that same "closed temporarily" notice on the index page now for nearly 2 years... I have a '66 Bandmaster that I replaced the OT transformer with a TO40MT transformer from David Allen... what an improvement over the original! It's a direct bolt in replacement (no holes to drill in vintage chassis) and is some serious iron made by Heyboer.

I have a Transitional Blonde BF Bandmaster, AA763 circuit, that had a bad orig OT when it came to me----the orig Schumacher 125A6A is a very cool no-metal endbell unit, but it was toast---- i got an AES Fender replacement BF Bandmaster OT to sub in and i was going to have the orig re-wound---- after i heard the amp with good GE 6L6GC's running through the USA-made AES replacement OT i forgot about getting the orig OT re-wound.
You might try the $40 AES USA-made replacement OT before spending big $$$ on other OT's---- it is inexpensive enough to try, anyway.
I have/have had several other BF, Early SF and Brownface Bandmasters---- this AA763 blonde w/AES OT doesn't take a backseat, tonally, to any of the BF or SF Bandmasters--- it's almost on a par with my favorite '65 Bandmaster, but this particular '65 BF is one of those special sounding amps.
I saw that '65 125A6A OT go for over $200 on ebay---- that's crazy---- IMO, try the AES $40 unit and if it somehow isn't good enough (it will be good enough and sound terriffic--- it just won't leave a big hole in the wallet) then spend big $$$ on the other options. YMMV, etc, etc.
With the AES 125A6A replacement, i believe that spending big $$$ and getting a "better" unit would be a case of psychoacoustics--- where a part seems better because it costs more--- again, maybe i'm crazy but my ears don't lie.......................gldtp99

If you're looking for an 8 ohm load on that Bandmaster, I have a MM OT (FBFVO-40) for a Vibroverb...

AES are selling Hammond made transformers. Not bad, but some people do think they are a bit colder sounding. That is just an opinion though.
