i got me a box of tubes and one is an Amperex 6DJ8 ECC88. anybody know if this can be used as a sub for 12AX7? If so, how does it compare? thanks for any info
No on the 12AX7 sub, but it's a very good audiophile preamp tube, and Amperex in particular has much respect. Is it an "orange globe" label one? I like those, warm and punchy.

It's more like a 12AU7 but with a 6 volt heater as opposed to 12 volts.
