I recently bought a batch of tubes. Among the preamp tubes were a couple of JJ ECC832. Is this some kind of ECC83 variant and what would its 12xx7 counterpart be?

12DW7. It's half a 12AX7 and half a 12AU7. Probably a 12AX7 that failed test.

OH WAIT! That would suggest that JJ actually tests their tubes before shipping them.
