View Full Version : Ghosting? what if it's not the Filter Caps or Grounding?

Maybe a noob question:hide but all the threads on ghosting talk about Sprague vs F&T's and changing grounding schemes and other fairly invasive measures.

Can a less than perfect rectifier tube be a suspect? Is using a silicon replacement (temporarily) a good way to check? It seems that NOS rectifier tubes are recommended in many cases to preserve spec'd voltages, is it a good idea to get a batch and weed out the good ones?

Thanks,

Andy

First place to check for ghosting is a dynamically matched set of power tubes.

Hi Rosewood, thanks, already checked, all speakers are fine

Hi Redman, will try that, thanks

I have 2 amps with this issue; a 4x 6v6 and a 2x6973 cathode bias

Make sure your guitar is not producing wolf tones, that is an out-
of- tune vibration in addition to the picked note.

Hi RedRock, thanks, guitars are fine, lots of guitars and amps here, just 2 I'm concerned with.
