I went with Heyboer for mine.

Power transformer : HTS-7042 bumped up to 290-0-290 stand up
Output transformer: HTS-7013-1
Choke: HTS 7040 (optional...a resistor can be used in place of the choke)

Knowing what power tubes you intend to use would be infinitely helpful.;)

The MM OTs for the different Vox builds are great. I used three different sets (well, two, as two were the same with different names....) and they had different strengths. But all (both) good. Really good. In 4xEL84 with pretty stiff supply and not too gainy preamp.

I like the Mercury copy of the Woden AC30. The RadioSpares version is also good.

class A?

Probably not, as no 4x EL84 amp could possiblily be 'Class A'

4 EL 84 amps can be class A but will only put out 20 watts. Check out George Allessandros amps. 4 EL 84 amps can not put out 38 watts. 34 max.

Try a Stancor Output tranformer.

I'm a big fan of Edcor iron.

You are joking, right? Just have to keep dissipation in line, bias appropriately...right?

Check out West Labs. They have some NOS Matchless (DC-30) transformer sets. First rate stuff!

Go with the choke, you won't regret it.

I have had good luck with Hammond myself. It really sounds like a case of pick your poison and run with it.

Very true! There are many excellent trannies available, Ceriatone included
