Is Traugott a French word?

I know it's an expensive word when it appears on your headstock. A year or two ago Jeff's guitars were selling for over $25k. and coming out of little old Santa Cruz.

It's pronounced "Trou-got"... kind of like saying "OUch" when something hurts, or like TROUsers you wear. BTW, his name does not appear on the headstock, only on the label inside the sound hole. The prices for his guitars are still up there, but his guitars are unlike anything else I have ever played.

Thanks for th correct pronounciation..
Jeff never used to sell his guitars for 25k, until the after market dealers started getting that for them...

A friend of mine has a Traugott acoustic, and a Kevin Ryan as well. Two of the finest instruments ever created IMO. I'd find it difficult to leave the house if I had those two sitting in my basement....

Yes, Jeff makes a fantastic guitar. I love my Traugotts... wouldn't trade (or sell them) for anything in the world. I have not played anything finer in my lifetime, and I've had the opportunity to play most of what is available out there. Your personal mileage may vary...

Thought it would be pronounced Traw-gott, like in saw - that off course if it's a french word.

Sounds very German to me
TROW GOTT would be my guess as how to pronounce it originally but with a roll of the R.
"Trau" means trust and "Gott" means God in German btw.

To say the word properly, we would have to cut off your tongue.

(Ok, what movie/show was that from?!?)
