Hi, anyone used or using the VV SP-90 Strat sized P-90 style pups? Just trying to get some feedback from actual users. TIA :BEER

I have one in the bridge position in this strat. The neck and middle PU's are Kinmans. I think the SP-90 works very well in this combination. It's much hotter and louder than a traditional strat PU.

Nice looking guitar, michael30. Thanks for the reply. How close to a real P-90 sound does the VV get in your experience?

Not as 3-D a the Lollar in my Tokai LP jr. The shape and size of the coil has a lot to do with how a real P-90 sounds. I'd say the VV is sort of P-90ish but not an exact match. My experience of P-90s is limited to two guitars, neither of which resembles a strat. I have a pair of Haeussel P-90's in an archtop but they don't sound anything like either the VV or the Lollar.

While I'm not so sure as to how close they sound to a real P-90, these pickups still sound awesome. A buddy of mine has them in a G&L and I was floored with how big and fat the guitar sounded.

I put a set in a friend's MIM Std Strat. We were just jamming at a get-together this weekend so I got to hear them in a live situation. Big and fat describes them perfectly, but still Stratty sounding. I might have to get a set myself now :D
