Want to strip the poly of a badly refinished Squier '51 and then simply stain it with tung oil spiked with some black tint (I guess). I've got a big old bottle of that orange citrus stripper, but I've heard that you need a nuclear warhead to strip poly. What will work?

Read the part about stripping poly

Try a heat gun first though. Its harder to use but works ok for most stuff.

Oh yeah, and the answer was no on that orange stripper.

+1 on the orange stuff

At an autoparts store, try the stuff labeled as "aircraft stripper." Super nasty, use gloves, ventilated area, etc.

My internal organs are shuddering at the thought of this. Thanks, guys!

The easiest way to change the color of your guitar is to sell the body you have and buy a different one that's already done in the color you want. I'm not joking.

+1 on the heat gun (VERY carefully), but not on the neck. Only the body.

This is actually true and it costs about the same as a pro refin .It also gives you the option of reverting back to the original in case the sound is too negatively affected by the change.

Damn, never seen that!

I imagine anything with methylene chloride will work. This stuff will burn your skin and eyes and the fumes are carcinegenic but it will remove anything.

DO NOT USE INSIDE!
