I bought the a Fender 3-way switch and the Luxe capacitor set. I installed everything like in the instructions but it doesnīt work right. In the 1. position (switch to the neck) there is no sound, in the 2. position there is a normal sound but the tone knob works like a volume knob (volume works normal) in the 3. position it is as it should be (no tone control). I think that itīs wired correctly. Can someone help me out???

Recheck you wiring. Something has to either be wired wrong or you have a bad connection.

Thank you for your reply. I wired it two different ways but it still not working. Itīs always working as I described it. Could it be that I bought a wrong 3-way switch or that thereīs something wrong with it???? I donīt know what else I can do.

To my knowledge they Fender only makes three different switches to fit the tele/strat setup. They are a 3-way,4-way and 5-way. If the switch only has 3 positions it has to be the correct one. It's possible that the switch could be bad, but I would think that rather slim.

Can you have someone else look it over for you? I think that it may be something simple that your overlooking.

Can you post a clear pic?

The only other thing that I can think of is to check and be sure that the little jumper wires are installed. If you look carefully at the wire connections on the switch, there are little jumper wires that connect one terminal on the switch to another terminal on the switch directly accross for them.
Also if the tone control is still functioning as a volume the cap isn't in the circuit somehow. The cap is what makes the pot a tone control as opposed to a volume control.

Good luck!

Also make sure nothing in the treble bleed circuit is grounding out improperly. The diagrams generally show it with an old style switch so trace the lugs and path or wires on the switch carefully.
