where can i get spools of cable to make my own speaker cables and mic cables. i figure i need a few 60' runs of each and would like to terminate them as well. good quality a must. cant spend 10000 a foot though.

i need to run mic cables in groups of 4 and speaker cables in groups of 2 if that is helpful at all. both sides will terminate on either a wall plate or a box (like a snake)

Redco is who I usually go to for that stuff. Good products/prices/service.

If you need a 500' spool, you can get Belden from Mouser or Digikey.

I have Belden snakes running from console to bays to recorder and back, with Gotham GAC-3 and Mogami 2549 everywhere else. It all sounds the same to me.

I like Mogami because it sounds good, and is very flexible. It's all I use in my studio, never a problem or failure in 20 plus years. They have different models and thicknesses. You can buy it on spools:

thanks for the links guys. the one cable im using now is a mogami and im happy with that so im thinking i should get a spool of W2932. that looks like it will be 8 channel microphone cable. i only need 3 or 4 so i figure 8 will hold me off for a while. damn that is expensive though.

We keep a spool of Mogami available at all times along with all the different types of connectors. You never know when you're gonna need a cable. Mogami sounds good - it's easy to assemble - it's reliable.

Mogami all the way. I use Gotham GAC-3 also, which is excellent cable, but feels a little less durable - I would highly recommend it for install though.

I always cover my GAC-3 with techflex if it's in front of the rack, which helps it lay flat and the end result is an outer diameter similar to most other mic cables. Looks good too, imo.

Where do you guys order the Mogami cable from. Do you get it directly from the site? Catalog?

I get raw & premade cables & connectors from both of these places;

www.redco.com

www.markertek.com

Usually it's best to pick up the phone & call 'em... RedCo has a good site. Markertek's site confuses me so I order out of the catalog.
