I was just curious how close can these pedals sound...the ethos is panned panned slightly to the left and the zendrive is to the right.
same amp and guitar.....dlite22 w/ GS1265 and 335.

Thank You, for this post !
Nice playing !
Did You have the same settings on guitar/amp ?
Zendrive sounded more guitar, more string-presence.
Better in my ears.
Lucky me, who have the Zen2.
Got away without GAS, this time.:nono
The Ethos looks nice though.

I felt the Ethos has a little more body, but it was not as refined sounding compared to the Zendrive. The Zendrive also had more overtones harmonically.

yes the same amp settings.
IMHO the ethos has more gain than the zen and more flexible.

Just my 2 cents, but I think the zendrive sounded better. I could feel the dynamics a little more.

Try putting the Zen through the Ethos clean side if you want a killer alternative - trust me!!!

I spent a lot of time with the Ethos and was very much involved in the TLE mod.
I really liked the device after the mod, but after a few months of hard comparison I found it to have a slightly more buzzy character that I just didn't want. If you are able to own many, it is a cool box. The direct out is also cool. The clean side is very nice, but I found that when I just bypassed the device I liked the sound of my blackface bassman so much more.
I currently own close to 20 OD's and find each to have something cool. I did however sell the Ethos. I prefer the Zen and the Jetter Red and Purple for the round warm amp like tone.
I am getting ready to do my 3rd OD shootout comparison. Last one was 22 devices

both...although they have some similarities, they are really voiced differently. I like both.... different textures and colors.....depends on my mood. :JAM

This is certainly how I've been using them both - for well over 18 months now - and nothing that's appeared on the radar has even come close to changing this arrangement on my pedal-board.

Only issue I will take with this comparison is that the Ethos can be for a wider array of tones vs the Zen due to the full EQ, Presence and Dip switches which provide the ultimate tweakability.
So depending on how you set the Ethos it is only one tone you can get.
Nice Job and playing in anycase!!!!!!!

I will agree. Zen through the CLEAN of the ETHOS is most of my current pedal tone when using a house amp. ETHOS lead for higher gain tones. Unbeatable combination.

Actually, I've been using the Ethos gain channel for lower OD tones.
I've not been able to dial-in a high gain tone on the Ethos that I find as pleasing as those I can get out of the Zen 2, but stumbled across some really great crunch tones on the Ethos (with the Gain control set between 9 and 10 o'clock) almost by accident.

I just made an accidental but amazing discovery.
I accidentally used the Ethos Power supply with my Zendrive 2. I can't even describe what a glorious tone I was getting.

My working knowledge of all things electrical is embarrassingly poor, but plugging a unregulated 12v power supply into a device that requires a regulated 9v power source didn't do it any harm? How?
Also, what's the difference now? :clips
