So I am not a tech by trade (obvious hence the post).
Anyway, I did some work for one of my students: Installed American Std Tele pickups in his MIM Tele, he was happy. So about 6 months later he has another set of Am Std Tele pickups and wants them in his Hwy 1 Tele, but this time he does not like the sound so much.
In particular he feels like there is not as much of a change in sound when the Neck pickup is on VS the Middle Position. I just straight up swapped the pickups out, but I am wondering if there may have been a wiring difference between the two guitars as far as caps, and wiring in general. I don't have the MIM to compare it to.
