There are so many great "dirt pedals" overdrive to distortion... fuzz...

What is your favorite pedal? I know it's hard to choose one... but why not to post your SOUND CLIP of dirt pedal with your favorite guitar and amp.

If you could write...

1) Name of your pedal

2) Why you like it so much?

3) How long have you owned it?

4) Any additional comments.

Let's enjoy it!

Here I go...

1) Name of your pedal: Cornish G2/SS3

2) Why you like it so much? Amazing singing and sustaining lead tones.

3) How long have you owned it? I think about 4 months.

4) Any additional comments: It's pretty quiet. Expensive? Yes... but worth it to me.

+1 Got a SS-2 and a G-2. Want to give a shout out to the P-2 as well. Love that pedal, insane amounts of gain!

1) Name of your pedal:
RM Axis Fuzz

2) Why you like it so much?
I like the nuances it gives me, i like the fact that when on this fuzz "cuts" and dont get buried away, i like the way it cleans and its like an extention of my cooked amp's sound.

3) How long have you owned it?
About 9 months.

4) Any additional comments.
I always run my wahs first in chain so I appreciate the fact that a buffered wah is not necessary with this fuzz in order not to have oscillation probs etc etc...

3. I've owned it for about 2 years
4. No clips yet but I'll post when I have a chance. Works great with all of my amps.

Thank you! Have you ever try a BB Plus.... got more gain .. and very cool pedal (bass control gives you big sound... if you like heavy rock sound).

Great to hear that you have been enjoying for 2 YEARS! Look forward to hearing your clip.

That was some rippin' tone if I do say so myself. :D My guess is that it's my Tokai Goldtop with Lollar P90s. Jeeter GSR, w/Klon, Pure 64 Mean Street w/Pure 64 1x12.

I think it was a strat... I think I used the tremlo bar a couple times. :) Fooled me cause the tone was so thick. haha It could be this one... I put a WCR Darkburst in the bridge. I'm really digging having a humbucker in a strat.

I agree.......there are only 3 OD pedals I have left and they are the BB, the OCD, and the AC.......I use the OCD for my rock rythmn tones that need a little less in the mids.....and the BB for a tones that need a little more in the mids. For leads I use the AC over both.....it really works well that way. For times when I need more sustain and syrupy leads I might use the BB over the OCD....but have to be careful to keep the gain down .....

I tried the BB plus and wound up liking my straignt BB better!

*edit* Funny coincidence... Just checked out Aiken amplifiers, and Google turned up one for sale here in Finland. Then I check it out and see "Ostin torilta nimimerkiltä svilo"... So is this your old amp for sale? The same one used to record those clips?

With out a doubt, my favorite dirt pedal is the Div by 13 Dyna-Ranger.

I like it because ..........well, it sounds great! It retains dynamics and expression. It doesn't get mushy. It works well with my Fargen Bordeaux.

It's been on my board since the day I bought it three years ago and it's not going anywhere.

If you want to hear it go here

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=801655

and listen to Innocence And Fear. The solo with the Dyna-Ranger starts around 2mins into the song.

Favorite would be my Timmy, no question.

I've had one on my board for over three years now - nothing I've tried simulates the sound of the amp breaking up better. It's dynamically sensitive, adds gorgeous harmonic content, and leaves the inherent voicing of whatever amp you're playing through intact.

This clip is the Timmy into a Marshall 100w Super Lead, and I'm using a Warmoth Tele with Harmonic Design Z-90 pickups. The amp is only on 3 and is being governed by a Hotplate set for -8dB. There was some amp dirt happening already, but it didn't sound nearly as rich or dynamic until I hit it with the Timmy. The Gain is around 9:30, Volume/Bass/Treble are at 2:00.

My fav dirt pedal: Bad Monkey
Why?: Gets the dirt without the fizzy top end
Have owned it for 1 year.
Works well with all of my amps (GT Soul-O 45, Rivera M60).

Recording chain for the following clip: Fralin P90 LP on the bridge pup->Bad Monkey->GE7 eq with sniper mod->GT Soul-O 45->SM57->Presonus MP20 mic pre->Lexicon A/D->Roland VS2400.

2) Why you like it so much? The Fuzz in this unit has an amazing, organic, musical edge to it. Grit(bias-control) takes it from sweet to insane.

3) How long have you owned it? 6-7 years.

4) Any additional comments: This has been a really good studio tool. I've used the fuzz on guitars, bass, synths with new and interesting results every time.

Edit: Been looking for the soundclip I wanted to post, but it's gone. sorry

My favorite's a relic drive from Nick Greer (caveat I am a dealer, but I don't base my choice of what works for ME on the few things I sell). Had it about 2.5 years I think.

I'll have to make some clips, I love the way it reacts, and it just helps get that sound I've had in my head.

I like a lot of other things as well, the AC Boost I had was very good, the Homebrew Powerscreamer is great too, but I always come back to the relic drive.

1) Name of your pedal

small box Pro Co Rat

2) Why you like it so much?

works great into any clean amp

3) How long have you owned it?

over 20 yrs now

4) Any additional comments.

I first bought it in the 80's when I read that Jeff Beck used one.
At the time, it even made my cheap SS amps sound good.

After trying many other pedals, I keep coming back to this one. Other pedals may excel in the lower gain areas, but the Rat can definitely cover many bases from light OD to full-on, creamy distortion. Very versatile, and the filter knob makes it easy to dial in the top end. sorry, I'll have to work on a clip.

thanks Tomo, great thread !

Favorite pedal is BJF Snow White Fuzz

I like it because it has a very elegant and smooth fuzz that makes for a very nice lead tone. And if it is pushed HARD into the input, it starts to do some fun things :YinYang

Lovepedal Kanji Eternity
I like it because it is gritty yet smooth and dynamic.
I've only had it a few months

http://www.mediafire.com/?ytdezmtnycc

The clip is my new (to me) 60' Custom Shop relic Strat through the Kanji (level 2 o'clock, tone 11 o'clock, drive 12 o'clock (laugh if you must, I usually play through a Bogner Shiva, but I have no way to record at the moment) Garageband's Twin Reverb Model.

Please excuse the sloppiness; it's all in one take and I haven't quite gotten used to the Strat yet so I had some struggle with the fairly dry tone.

Thanks :)

Okay, my favorite, Xotic AC booster. I've had one for 2 years now, sweet pedal, just the right amount of gain, not too much to be fizzy, but enough to have a full sound. I like how it stacks too. There are a few clips of it, on my band's site, not my best playing, sissy strut and rock steady are good examples of the pedal into a carr rambler. Again, not my best playing,

Heres a clip of the BP http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8284791

I like it because it gives me a nice even smooth singing distortion. I think that clip was recorded on my deluxe reverb with the volume on like 3.

It has more of a saturated tube drive going on... Deluxe reverb here again. Probably my strat.

Hey Tomo

These are two of my favorite dirt pedals.

The Tonebender I bought in 1974 and it is truly dirty and can sustain for quite a while.

The ProCo Rat was purchased by me in 1984 and with the proper setting is smooth and violin like.

One thing for sure they take a beating and keep on ticking.

My other favorite is the Rockett Pedals Blue Note. I don't have a clip of it yet, but it's the single best OD pedal ever made. It doesn't do high gain, but for lower gain solos, crunch and edge-of-breakup tones, no pedal I've ever heard or played is as good... I've done the A/B tests and there was just no question.

Thanks Funkycam. I listened to your clip as well. Very nice tone and playing. I've never heard of that pedal.

Thank you! I love my Rat pedal too.

Well I like many here have several on my board. i can't say I have a favorite so here's a clip going through them all.

ASAT Classic (bridge pup)> pedalboard> Egnater Rebel head> 79 Princeton Reverb w/Eminence "Lil Buddy speaker. Recorded wZoom H2 just sitting on my computer table. Not gig volume and uneven volumes on pedals.
