do I need a setup if going from 11's to 12's?

I just got my Strat setup for 11's but today I just put on 12's. I'm undecided about if I'll go back to the 11's or stay with the 12's. I was just wonder if i need a setup because of the extra tension put on the neck.

Yes - it's really not that hard to learn to do your own. I check my setup every time I change strings of the same gauge and adjust accordingly. YMMV

does it involve truss rod adjustments or anything serious like that? or just the action?

Sometimes yes - sometimes no - 11 to 12 may need a trss adjust after a few days. It takes a minute for the neck to get used to the extra string tension.

I think that the best thing is to go the luthier and ask him a complete set-up.
