took my verbzilla off my board and replaced it (without hearing it first)the tc electronic nova nr1 (big mistake)...i thought with the TC reputation as it is, i couldn't go wrong (naive)...the thing is this nr1 is total sh*t(very disappointed)..anyway... for the unit to be usable the mix level has to barely be on, i'm talking the smallest of smidgens here..95% or more of the mix level travel is useless.
as hard as i tweak this bloody thing it's still cr*p, smooth reverb? everything sounds like jarring echo repeats..the colour, and dynamix controls work as they should but the decay, pre delay and mix level controls are woeful.
moral of the story..try before you buy. i am so glad i hung on to the verbzilla.what are your thoughts on this nova "reverb",anyone out there getting a good sound out of this bloody thing?

Did you calibrate it? Doesn't sound like you did

Dunno... I didn't have a problem with it at all. That's not to say that we are using it with the same gear, in the same routing configuration, or that yours isn't a defective unit though.

I've heard a few "I don't like it as well" but no reviews besides this one that says its utter crap.

I have a verbzilla and it is pretty good. However, it does make a difference whether you have the distortion in front of the pedal or behind.

I was looking at the Nova (I have the modulator and delay), but I use reverb only for surfy stuff, or weird sound effects using the cave settings.

Well, I wholeheartedly agree with trying before you buy (or else buying from someone with a good return policy.

Funny thing is, my brother did the exact same the exact same pedal swap and is raving to me about how good the TC is (I haven't heard it as he lives back east now).

Maybe consider a T-Rex Roommate, or a Hardwire RV-7, both very nice...
