I just bought a mccarty and it is extremely more bassy than my '88 gibson les paul. so much that the amp settings for one are nowhere usable for the other.

can anyone recommend some pickups to tame the lowend of this guitar? (i prefer coil tappable buckers chrome covers) i play mostly modern rock (third eye blind, daughtry, goo goo dolls, lifehouse).

Rich, what are you using for a cable?

I put in Seymour Duncan '59s in my McCarty. Much more open and less muddy than the stock pickups. They're definitely a step in the right direction.

First though, you might want to adjust the height of the pickups, if you haven't done so already.

The Fralin High outputs come to mind..... you can split em as well if memory serves me correctly. Good luck!
