tele wiring neck pickup

quick question. i am re-wiring my CIJ tele today and have it all ready to go.


the neck pickup has a white, black and yellow lead. i wasnt really expecting the yellow to be there!!!! I am going for a 4 way switcher.

What do i do with the yellow?

Try checking the continuity between the wires and the cover .If the yellow wire end is linked to the cover but not the black or white wires, you probably have an isolated ground.
This is necessary to have for 4 way switching. The cover cannot become part of the "hot" circuit. If it does ,major noise problems will follow.
The colors may not be as expected,so check with a meter which are the coil ends.You can't tell the start and finish this way , but you at least know which are the ends of the coil and which is the cover.
