My beloved partscaster is unplayable.

It has a wide-fat Allparts tele neck and the neck has changed over the past few months for the worse. It has aquired a reverse warp. I have backed the truss rod off as much as it will go but that has not helped much. Can someone please give me some suggestions as to what I should try next. Thanks.

A heat press has worked well for me. The "poor man's heat press" is to take the neck off, clamp it to a rigid piece of lumber or a heavy metal carpenter's level with a forced slight bow in the desired direction and leave it in a hot car in the sun for a day, then cool overnight still clamped. If you have never done/seen a heat press it would be good to get with someone who has done it.

I'm not a big fan of heat treatments but I do it if I need too. You may also try putting it in a low humidity enviroment for a few days if you are in a high humidity area.

Try putting it in the case with some dessicant to dry out the fingerboard which might introduce some relief. You could also have it defretted and then refretted with frets that have a smaller barb (opposite of a compression fret). Or defret it, crank in some backbow, level the fingerboard, and then release the truss rod and the neutral position should have some relief built in.

Try heavier strings.

If your lucky you can get away with filing the frets straight. Material will be removed from the center of the fretboard, getting the neck straght again. If its more severe, the frets need to come out. Then you can dial in a bit of truss rod tension and plane the fretboard straight. Re Cut the fret slots & re fret the neck. It all depends on how much backbow is in the neck.
