Hey all,
I have an unfinished Tele neck and body from USA Custom Guitars (that I won during last year's TDPRI fundraiser), that I'd like to have finished. Anyone have any recommendations for a person/business to do the work? I'd like to have it finished vintage style (nitro), in the style of an early '50s Telecaster/Broadcaster. I have a set of OC Duff pups set aside for it, as well as hardware from Glendale.

Thanks

Ron Kirn is a respected Builder

He hangs around TDP and has a few build threads there.

Teles and Strats and vintage lacquers are his fortes

Google Guitar Mill. I've actually not tried them but have heard good things.

If your wanting to finish it your self I'd check out guitar reranch. They sell period correct finishing supplies and have a few finishing 101 type documents to follow. There is also a forum on there site that could probably answer any question you think of. I've done some nitro finishing on one of my USAGC strats and found the info there to be all that I needed.

That body has awesome grain and deserves a nice finish. I did a see-thru blonde nitro finish on my latest strat. I used the reranch "Mary Kay" color and Behlen clear gloss lacquer. It came out beautiful, but was a PITA as I had to strip it and start over after a bad sand-thru. If you can afford it, send it to a pro like Mario at Guitar Mill, Ron Kirn, or Curtis Novak. There are a couple other guys on the ReRanch forum that can do it for you as well.
