Hi all,

I was doing a gig yesterday and for the first hour was using my strat through a g-system to my Boogie Lonestar.

I then plugged in my BFG which I have noticed has had some kind of funny earth problem in the past and about 16 bars into the song my amp cut out. Pretty bad situation. I turned to standby and turned back on but the amp cut out almost immediately.

We ditched the song and I continued with the strat no probs.

If there was an earthing problem in the guitar, could it do something like that to the amp?

From your description, it sounds like nothing was happening to your amp. Instead, the amp was losing the signal from the guitar at some point along the chain, and if everything worked with the Strat, that means the problem has to be with the BFG.

The guitar simply wouldn't work properly and the amp would not be getting any signal, just as you experienced.

Time to get that guitar checked out... It could be as simple as a bad ground or hot connection at the jack. Pull the control cover off and check.

Also, be sure to check out all your cords. A cord could have failed with the BFG and not with the Strat, possibly due to the different jack locations...
