Hi there, for the longest time my ValveKing 212 combo has been a very nice amp, but now it seems to be acting up. :puh
When I turn it on (stand-by off), it is silent which is to be expected, but when I turn the stand-by switch to "on" the amp hums, and I also hear this noise that sounds very much list static. The sound does not appear to get louder as I play which is good, but it is quite annoying. Also raising the volume of the amp, does not seem to increase the volume of the static.
The ValveKing has this class A to class A/B pot in the back, and moving that to the class A, seems to make the static worse, also tinkering with the damping seems to affect the static. Lastly, putting something in the effects loop seems to increase the static. I even tried just putting a patch cord, which in turn makes the static more noticeable.
Now, I know it isn't my pedalboard since I tried all of the above after unplugging the guitar and the huming + static are still there. I even tried another cab and the static goes to the new cab, so I know that something is amiss, but I don't know what that would be. The Peavey forums seem to be down at the moment so I a hoping that some of the board technical experts might be able to give me some insight into what the cause of this problem might be.
Thanks a bunch.
