View Full Version : Gibson Customer Service
The jackplate on my historic goldtop broke.....emailed Gibson, they overnighted a replacement. The shipping cost more than the part. Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised.

Not too shabby, but I know quite a few builders that would send the replacement part for free and not even charge you for shipping. The fact that Gibson actually responded is a big plus though.

They didn't charge me anything - sorry if I wasn't clear. I was trying to highlight that they spent $ they didn't have to by sending it overnight.
I am sure there are lots of builders who would do this, the surprise is that it came from Gibson.

I was endorsed by Gibson for awhile in the 90s, and I couldn't get anything from them. Eventually they sent a brutal Blueshawk guitar down. I found them to be the most difficult company I've ever dealt with.

Not to jump on the Gibson bandwagon but I had two good experiences with their Customer Service. One in 94 when they replaced a Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic. The one I bought had lots of issues inside. They could have been fixed but I told them there was so much wrong I'd like a replacement. That's what they did! Next, my Custom Shop 57RI had a poor slot cut for the nut. It was jagged and rough. Local service center shipped it back and they repaired it. They also fixed something I didn't ask for which was cool. The binding was showing little cracks where the fret ends were poking the binding. They either re-fretted and rebound the board or refiled the fret ends and rebound it. It took them 2 months so that wasn't too good but it came back fantastic.

They've gotten MUCH better, on the phone too! I got a more intelligent respose from them on the phone than I got via email from Walter Carter!

+2
I bought an LP Supreme from Musician's Fiend back in 2004 (I know, I know...will NEVER buy an instrument sight unseen again) & the TOM bridge had several of the saddles cut off-center, some ridiculously OFF :messedup
Anyways, they told me to take it to an authorized dealer who couldn't care less & kept trying to ignore me - Then they sold me a Gibson bridge & said they refund my CC once Gibson acknowledged the warranty credit, which they never did.
Last time I buy anything *NEW* from Gibson...
