(I posted this in the amps and cabs section too.) I've had one of these, AC15H, for a few months now and pretty much use only the TB side. The EF side is microphonic no matter what. Not bad but I can still hear it even with the EF's side volume all the way down.
So can I remove the ef tube and only use the TB side without frying anything?

Should be just fine.
Alternatively, you could get a Dario miniwatt NOS Ef86, and stick it in there. You won't be wanting to play the TB side all the time after that !!

Man without the EF86 why have a Vox.
Get the Dario or even better a Tesla or Tele or Mullard longplate and have at it.
Make sure you have the tube selected and tested for low microphonics for a couple bucks more
about 50% of the current russian EF86 tubes are bad out of the box
A stabilizer ring is one way to tame the tube
