Have access to a fabulous summer place in the mountains of Wyoming. Kind of place you want a guitar... and yet, for 9 months a year it's unheated... temps in winter drop down around -20C. So, this year, rather than hauling one for the round trip or doing without, I snagged a used Composite Acoustics and sent it up there. It will sit in the case all winter, and sometime next summer I'll report back. Fishing was good and I didn't even get the strings changed on it this year, but it'll be interesting to see how it holds up... I'm not expecting a problem. I was gonna detune it a bit but I don't think I got around to it... Well, everyone set your alarm for July and I'll let ya know how it worked out!

You'll be happy with your purchase. Not sure you even have to detune it - might want to check with CA about lowest tolerated temps but I'm betting it's not a problem. We leave a Bluegrass out on a stand year round in Southern Colorado; No minus 20, but dry as all get out (cracked a Collings a year ago) and pretty good snowfall this year. Can't remember the thing even going out of tune and always sounds great.
Nice to spend less time on Dampits and more throwing parachute Adams' ;) Enjoy Wyoming.

Best acoustic guitar available (IMHO, of course).

I've been contemplating one of these!!!!
The ones with the off-set sound hole look ultracool for sure.
Anyone else have one of these?

Dig mine, only acoustic I don't worry about dragging around. I live on the water and have all sorts of extremes in temp and humidity. I want to hear more about the fishing in Wyoming though!

Amen. Just about to go put my waders on and see if I can pull anything out of the Animas tonight. We REALLY need more fly fishing threads on this board, even if it has nothing to do with this board, but really has everything to do with everything :YinYang. Maybe if we post pics of all of us fishing with our CA's on our backs (as emergency flotation and bear defense devices) we would be justified?

Too late to detune now, I'm gone for the season... Guitar is a CA Legacy AE with Vintage Voicing... Naturally the electronics are a bit of a waste for now, but the guitar was priced right so I jumped on it...
Fishing was in some mountain lakes and was steady, but topwater was not the answer... plenty of fat brook trout, rainbows lurking in the middle of the lake, and even some lake trout stalking the inlets waiting for any poor fingerling to come down out of the streams... Quick trip this year, but normally I'm there enough to make leaving a guitar there worth it, so it'll be fun to see how it works out. Really not expecting any trouble... and if I do, well, I'll get it fixed and keep going... I've wasted more on less....

You don't need to detune it. That CF is NOT going to shift.

I live and play in Austin Texas. Lots of outdoor, hot humid gigs. I bought the CA Cargo a few months ago so I didn't have to take my $5K handmade acoustic out in the elements. Well this has become my favorite guitar. It' s all I play at gigs or at home. The handmade one is for sale. This Cargo is THAT good. It does have the offset soundhole and just has a huge wonderful tone. CA did it right.

Can't wait to hear how she weathers the winter! Please check in next spring when you make it back to the cabin. I've been thinking about one of these for awhile...
