ok guys I have a fender 65 reissue twin. the amp has two 12 inch 8 ohm jensen speakers wired to pull the amp at 4 ohms via the internal speaker jack input.
the amp has an external speaker jack. the manual says that the internal speaker jack and the external speaker jack are wired in parrellel and that when connecting another cabinet that a total speaker impedance load of 4-ohms should be used to avoid damage to the amplifier.
so my question is this.....i am getting confused on the math....if my internal load is 4 ohm and then i plug up another 4 ohm cab via the external jack does the drop my load to 2 ohms? if i plug up another cab that is a 8 ohm cab what does that do to my total impedence? I used to know this stuff but its been a long time and I want to experiment without destroying my amp!

Yes another 4 ohm load plugged into the external speaker jack, together with the built in speaker load of 4 ohms will give you 2 ohms. The answer to your other question, an 8 ohm load in parallel with a 4 ohm load, is 2.67 ohms.

Also, if you connect a twin for a 2 ohm load, you'll get distortion earler and about 60% power, or 60 watts. Might be an improvement
