It's been a busy week of gigging here in Denver this week. Mostly little cocktail gigs for lunch and happy hours in solo / trio settings. I gotta say, it's great having gigs everyday for a change!

Most of the nighttime gigs are either folks like Jon Legend, Cheryl Crow, Rage, Run DMC, Kool & the Gang, Meters etc. or party bands from around the country like Hot Chile. The Showtime @ the Apollo house band is playing the actual convention. That's got to be a great paying gig...

One of my bands does have a pretty high profile gig tomorrow night though - playing the after-speech party for Obama's home state of Illinois. Don't know if he'll show or not but we did have to submit to bkg. checks and need to have the gear @ the facility by noon tomorrow for a gig that doesn't start till 9:30.

If he shows (and assuming he wins) I will have played for the last 6 presidents. I go back to the Ford admin. - S#$T I'm OLD!!!!

Anyways, if anything cool happens I'll post some pics. Ok, Gotta head downtown and play another happy hour gig. At least the old ES-175 is getting a workout for a change...

Thanks for the props Jim! Yeah, VooDoo Syndicate is a great kicks band - wish that band worked more often... I'm working w/ some of those same folks tonight.

BTW/ We met a couple of years ago @ NAMM 2005. Loved those 7 strings!

I'll report back tomorrow and let you know if any stars are sighted @ the party. OK - time to fight traffic & security!

Hey All,

Obama was a no show. He left directly from the stadium to the airport.

The Illinois party cranked up about an hour late after everyone got out of the stadium and made it across downtown. It was open to all attendees, not just the Illinois contengent. You could tell the people were pretty tuckered out after 4 days of partying, waiting in long lines to get into Invesco and hanging out in the sun all day waiting for the Big O's speech.

It took a while to get them going but we had about 1500 dancing & partying under the stars by the time we got done. And all of downtown Denver was abuzz from the whole DNC experience. It really invigorated our city not only financially but in the national recognition that Colorado is a pretty cool place. It will be interesting to check out the vibe in St. Paul next week....

It was a pretty neat once in a lifetime week. And it's looking good for our band playing one of the innaugural balls in DC this year (we've played 2 of them before). So it was all good!

I was in Denver for the DNC. Great town. Thanks for the hospitality. I'm sorry I didn't see the gig alert but I was pretty busy.

I stopped by the Appaloosa Grill after Thursday's rally for dinner and saw a cool prog-tech jazz (is that genre?) trio. They sound like something from the Chill channel on Sirius/XM radio. Very cool.
