My 68 Deluxe Reverb needs a new Reverb Transformer. Does it matter which one I get. My tech says he will order a standard Fender reissue one. Does a better one such as Mercury Magnetics make a difference in sound/tone?

it could make a difference in the sound/tone of the reverb itself. The impact overall would probably be small-to-none. But the cost of the reverb transformer is small anyway even for the upscale ones. There is little question a Mercury or Heyboer unit would be a higher quality part. You will have to weigh all that out.
The Fender reissue transformer is about 15 bucks. The Mercury one is about $32 if you get it at the discounted price by ordering through Weber.

For that small of a difference I'd probably go with the Mercury one. It's not like you're screwing around with some toy amp, that's a '68 Fender you have there, sir!

I'd find one that is closest to the original in terms of size, construction, and quality in addition to specs. I tend to think that Mercury Magnetics or Heyboer will have something better than the reissue transformer, but I can't back that up with any facts.
