We dropped a set of Lollar Firebird style mini humbuckers into a guitar routed for P90's. With Jason's adapter rings, it's a straight replacement with no routing. It's a nice system and and easy change. This clip runs through all three positions. the pickups are very clear and bright without being shrill.
The guitar is a korina Swan Fedgling with maple neck and cocobolo fingerboard. The amp is a Headstrong Lil' King with a bit of verb and trem at the amp.

That may be the best sounding swan I've ever heard. Just gorgeously fat tones. Very nice.

Thanks Jack. It was also really easy to record. I just stuck an SM57 in front of the speaker and hit record. (Of course, the Li' King makes a lot of guitars easy to record).
It's a pretty cool guitar and I like the pickups a lot. Our experience in general with chambered korina bodies has been excellent and it seems to match up with the mini-hums really well.

Agreed ...sounds like a great combination. All 3 positions have a really great character about them.

Thanks for that Jim. I'm interested in swapping out the neck and middle Dimarzio mini hums in my Vinetto Legato for the Lollar birds... sounds like it might be a good change and match up well with the tele bridge pickup.

It's a pretty clever system. There's a plastic adapter that attahes the pickup to the ring. The height adjustment screw then moves the pickup and ring, together as a single unit.

Do you sell them?

Do you sell them?
No. We don't usually sell pickups. We just used a set in one of the guitars that we build.

Thanks for the kind words. The hardware is available direct from Lollar. Just give them call. They're nice folks and usually pretty helpful. Their number is 206-463-9838.

Jim, those tones sound delicious. Are you able to do the same demo but through a Roland Cube? I'm assuming you still have the 60w. Thanks.

No, I don't still have the Cube. I made a deal with my wife that I could buy a second Lil King but only if I sold every other amp I own. Seriously. She HATES amplifiers and I love my Lil King, so it was really a no brainer for me.

Thanks anyway. What you have now is a killer combination. In the past when you've posted clips, they tended to be a bit too mid-rangey for my taste.......but what you have now is just great. All the best man.

I don't know why but that just cracked me up!
Beautiful, Jim. All of it; playing tone and guitar.
Thanks
