...Don Mare/Rick Holmstrom model bridge pu and Don Mare S-Telly neck pu, 500 meg concentric blender/tone pot. Running about 75%-80% on bridge pu.
Recording setup:
Dual Power Mac G-5, OS 10.4, into a Digidesign Digi 002R interface, Protools 7.4.
Microphones and Preamps:
Sennheiser e906 just off the grill cloth aimed at the junction of the dome and cone, Royer R-122 active ribbon mic about 1' behind angled toward center of dome, Shure KSM-44 condenser as a room mic about 4' behind and 4' above pointed at dome. The e906 is going direct to the 002R and the R-122 is going into a Universal Audio LA-610 tube preamp with light compression, and the KSM-44 going into a Universal Audio Solo 610 tube preamp.
I love the tone of the amp on the recording. However, I've since changed the speaker to a Scumback M75 Greenback style and like the live tone very slightly better. I haven't recorded with it yet so I'll see how it compares to the Scumback H75 which is a G12H30 style speaker. Both sound just killer in this amp.
The guitar and bass were live tracked with the bass going direct to a Focusrite Voicemaster Pro preamp (was since replaced by the U.A. preamps listed above). The keyboards and horns were Sample Tank II triggered by a Roland GR-33 guitar synth. The drums were BFD-2 groove samples and fills. I wrote, arranged, and played everything.
Anyway, unless you've already heard it, I hope you enjoy the recording. It's a rough recording and mix, with some mistakes, but I thought it didn't turn out too bad for a home studio with a highly compromised environment.
