On my trip to Miami to escape Gustav, I got this Les Paul in a trade from Crewlawyer. This is a '73 routed for full size hums and refinished by Paintguy in flip flop green, gold, red, purple paint. This has Seth Lovers in it and weighs about 8.7 pounds. That is all I really know about it, except that it may be the best Les Paul I have ever owned. I love this guitar!
Thanks to Crewlawyer for a great time and excellent hospitality. I am still drooling over that collection of amps and guitars! Wow is all I can say.
Anyway, on to the pictures. I tried to capture some of the color. The paint on this guitar is incredible and the quality of the work is outstanding. Everything is painted, even the binding has been ghosted as well as the HS and the fret markers are the same color.
Hats off to Paintguy!
Mike

Great pics, and a superb paint job for sure.
But what I really want to know is... what DVD is under the guitar? :D

Dvd? I just want to squash the bug on the horn. :p
Man, that's a gorgeous finish. Nice detailing too. The Gibson logo came out really clean.

Mike -- thanks for dropping in and hanging out -- I'm loving the SG Custom! That refinished LP is truly one of the best that I have ever had and I'm glad that it has found a new home and is getting played by hands much more skilled than mine! Hope you can make your way back to Miami soon so I can send the wife and the kids out and we can really turn it up!
+100 for Paintguy's work; he is absolutely the best!
That is a totally awesome paint job. I love the variation in color with light & angle! Congrats on scoring a very unique guitar! :AOK

Nice! That takes the appeal of those all-gold Les Pauls a few steps further.
A refreshing change from all the sunbursts (although, if I had an LP, the 'burst would be hard to resist).
Cool car too!

Wow! Imagine my shock seeing this thread. I had no idea Mike even posted this.
That 73' was my main squeeze for many, many years. I'm actually sort of choked up seeing it and knowing it's not mine anymore.
I have a lot of history with that guitar as it was my main gigging guitar for years. I often thought that I totally ruined it by painting it with the colorchange paint as I didn't want to play it after that. I lived in fear of messing it up and actually considered stripping it just so I could play and enjoy it. I sold it instead.:jo Probably one of my bigger mistakes...
Anyway, it's been gone for a quite a while now and that paint job has to be 5-10 years old? Seems it's holding up well. Nice pics Mike :AOK
Thanks for the very nice comments on the paint job (Mike, Crewlaywer, Fred and the rest). I'm definitely feeling mixed emotions right now.
That guitar has mojo like very few I have ever owned and maybe more than any guitar I have owned. This thread just confirms what I always knew!
Enjoy it in good health Mike, and if you ever sell or trade, DIBS!!!!

Man, I can't believe you took that over a flamed wine red classic! What's wrong with you Mike? Crewlawer must have got you drunk or something. :D
Really- just kiddin ya, sweet looking axe man. Love the flip-flop. Had a SG with the teal flip flop. It's got a great look and so nice to see something other than the old bursts and g/t's. Good to see you got something you wanted. Enjoy your new addition to the collection!

Very different. The 295 lives in the case for the most part. I don't want to bond with it too much because if I do, I may never be able to part with it. It is also not the easiest to play since the frets are original and quite small. I can't say which one I like better, since I love them both. I can honestly say that I am quite happy with my guitars right now, I have almost all of the bases covered. All I need now is another killer Gretsch.
