Yeah, I know, this pedal is discontinued, but I've read some good stuff and decided to rid myself of the BB Preamp (great pedal, compressed my sound)
Here are my initial impressions of about 13 minutes of playing on my AC30 - so the amp was just getting broken in when I quit and I was not at stage volumes:
1. First off, it fit the bill for a med gain OD after my TREX Moller. It is not nearly as "boxy" as the BB and definitely not as compressed! It has the soft/hard switch and right now I am enjoying soft because it is slightly warmer.
2. I can't really describe the tone/od of the pedal -- IT'S VERY GOOD, if that helps any. It is very open and no matter where I have the gain set, I can always hear my strings come through. Articulate might be the word to use here. I know Jetter set the Red up to be a DUMBLE pedal and the Gold is just a RED with more gain on tap. At about 12:32 on the gain knob its like an afterburner kicks in and it blows dragons fire through your speakers -- really, it's sounds awesome. It's like the VTEC in my Honda, at 4000rpm it retards or adjusts the cam shaft to put a little more hitch in the ole gitty-up of the automobile. I do, however, prefer the pedal at or below 12.
3. The pedal is smooth (don't know why it's discontinued -- maybe to make room for the green) and has the power I need it to have. I was a little unsure because it seems these pedals were setup for fender style amps (though the jetter site fills you in on good amp selections for each pedal) and I run a VOX, but I must say, this will probably stay on the board -- at least until I purchase the Jetter G3 (check this one out)
