SO ... finally decided to take the local Guitar shop to small claims court over the crappy fall to pieces neck binding of my Gibson SG ...

Well a couple of lawyer letters later ... and I get a call from the big boss to come pick a new guitar ...

I was obviously looking at everything EXCEPT the Gibsons ... when from the corner of my eye I see one of the new ES-339s

I couldn't resist ... it was for lack of better words ... Glorious ...

a couple of seconds later it's in the Gibson Case and in my car ...

Great Les Paul action, tone with that jangley feel you only get from an ES ...

Of course as expected it came with minimal appointments, no strap, no cloth, for the same price Fender would wipe your a** for 2 weeks ...

Gibson has ALLOT of work to do when it comes to Setup ... My guitar was setup by some senile retard who probably thought I like to use the space between the fretboard and the strings to park my car ...

Upon closer inspection the guys who did the finish were probably on shrooms that day ... some spots here and there ... oy ...

but overall great guitar, great great great guitar

I have never had a single problem with my ES-339. I have had mine for about 5 months now. Mine was setup almost perfectly right out of the case. It's a shame to hear so many horror stories about it. I guess I got lucky.

Other than harder access to upper frets than a 335 I have not heard any issues with 339's.

What other things have come up with them?

I've had mine for about 4 months. Was setup nicely when I got it and have no issues with the build quality at all. Plus it sounds great!

Mine had an okay setup. I paid for a pro setup locally and now it's fantastic.

My 339 needed minor tweaks to get it where I like it (every guitar does), but otherwise it's been flawless since day one. Great tone, wonderful weight and dimensions, and that '59 rounded profile baseball bat is the greatest-feeling neck I've ever laid my hands on. I liked it so much I bought a Custom Shop J-45 to keep it company! People bitch about Gibson all the time, and I'm sure there are some legitimate complaints, but I haven't encountered any shortcomings whatsoever.

Like I said I haven't heard anything bad about the 339's.
I've read quite a few threads on them too.
