Well I am sitting around in Dallas evacuated from Beaumont and I brought two guitars with me and left the rest and hope for the best. Well I am sitting around and pulled out my taylor to strum a bit only to find out that I did not evacuate with a pick....sux. well I turn to one of my dogs who are with us and pulled of her little name tag. A small alum. heart prob. about a half inch long and started strumming my acoustic. WOW it sounds great. I am sure it has the potential to destroy my sound board if I am not carful but dang I really like the tone. So just a little smile out of a crappy situation. Maybe I could market them and call them ikes pics. oh well I hope all members and there families are safe and well.

Call 'em "Dog Tags."

I'm glad the hotel let you bring your friends. I wouldn't leave mine behind.

Glad you got to a safe place and are making the best of it Shawn.

Seems you've got sort of a rescue dog there.

Too bad you didn't evacuate to Austin - there are some righteous bands playing this weekend: Mogwai last night, John Hiatt and Joan Osborne tomorrow. Oh well. At least you're safe and dry with guitars and dogs! Plenty to be thankful for, IMO.

Never aluminum but when I was younger I used to cut old tupperware into picks out of neccesity.

Don't let Billy Gibbons get ahold of this- you'll start a new trend.

yeah thanks man! I sent my gibson chet sst off with a friend and my amps are up at the church on stage so I dont know about any of that gear or about the gear at my house. hoping for the best. does anyone know if I need to humidify my taylor while I am in dallas? The climate is such in beaumont that I do not need to but I am further from the coast here.

With the weather like it is here right now I don't think you'll have to worry.
I live in Waxahachie, not too far south, and never humidify my Martin and it's fine for years.

Now West Texas, that's another story.

Friggin' Ike... had to cancel everything today, b/c of it. However we did not have a drop of rain or any strong wind, which is a good thing. Actually just came back home froma a BBQ.

Pics coming in from Galveston and the coast are heartbreaking. Good luck to you and everyone in those lands.

Take care and strum away!
