How can you tell the difference between an English and Chinese made Celestion Vintage 30 speaker?

Don't think it matters.Same materials, same quality control.Different country, cheaper labour. If you were worried about slave labour that would be one thing. The speakers are the same.

the PROC ones sound better in a slant cab.......Sorry could not resist
they say no difference...I am suspiciouss the older 6XXX series GB cones sound better than the recent 444GB cones, so really the late UK and PROC ones are crap in some opinions. They cost less to make but Celestion raises the price....I'll buy elsewere and buy better. I had 2 C and 2 uk in a cab and split them up with some old G12H 55 and the all UK cab sounds better think, got rid of the PROC GB. it was 2001 IIRC they went to china but it was hush hush....so I'd avoid anything after 2000

I do agree that older celestions sound better.I have a few G12M 70's that are killer sounding and have not been able to get a modern equivalent to touch them.Even reconed they sound awesome. As long as the reconer uses the right stuff that is.
The G12M 70 is IMHO,the best Celestion ever made for JCM800's and 18 watters.
Vintage 30's are fine speakers, but fall short of the 70's.
Overall,Celestion's prices are way high for what they are.

My question was really this - based on the pictures provided - which ones are made in UK and which ones in China?
Is there a way to tell?

The UK ones have "MADE IN ENGLAND" stamped on the frame.

I like the newer ones better than the older ones. Personally, I think it's the older ones that have that nasty spikey high end that people complain about with V30's. The newer ones sound smoother and are darker to my ears.
