Anyone want to show off boutique guitars with wear and tear, scars, dents or tarnished hardwear. I just put a small dent in a mint guitar and I'm hoping to feel better after I see some others.

Sorry to hear about that dent. That is the worst feeling ever, but in the long run think of it as an addition to your future reliced guitar.

Oh well. Everything is mint these days. It just makes me wonder....
where are all the guitars that are played hard and put put away wet?????

...which: SPEAR-mint or PEPPER-mint?

Generally if I buy a guitar that would be discussed in this section, its far too expensive to reasonably tour and throw in a trailer every night.

depends on the tour/band.

Well I play 'em only pretty hard, and I tend to hit 'em with a polish rag before putting them away.

There are plenty of folks who play high-end guitars and amps for even local bar gigs. Unless you bought it as an investment (vintage/collectable limited run/etc.) use them for what they were built - makin' music!!!

Cheers,

Edward

I have some beautiful wear marks on my Trussart.

Wonderful chipped edges on my Fender Custom Shop "Clarence White" telecaster

My D'Pergo is still cherry after 20 gigs but it's just a matter of time.

BTW every guitar in my collection gets some gig time. What good are they in the closet? :huh

depends on the tour/band.

The kind of tour where you handle all your own gear, sleep on gracious peoples' floors, and people are a little afraid to get close to the scene on stage.

Try to remember that they are tools to be used, no matter how pretty they are! I find that after the honeymoon period w/ any guitar I`ve owned ( and I`ve owned way too many) they have to be functional, not just a trophy wife. Otherwise I sell them!

I try to keep 'em nice and pretty, I just can't help but nick them. I was looking real close at my Lentz SSL roundup orange last night. Have only had it for 8 or 9 months and I've already put some chips in the finish you can see bare wood (or sealed). There's no amount of micro-mesh that will help those spots. I take my stuff to bar gigs whenever I have them. They sound good, real good.

I love to see TCM guitars aquire the marks of use!

Here's a pic of Chuck Garvey's (of the band moe) Sportster, which has been his main guitar for over 500 shows thus far. It's hard to see the checking, etc.
I love to see my guitars like this:

The fretboard wear on the McInturff is too cool. You can't dremel mojo like that.

I'm always anxious to get the first hit in so I can get past that "first ding anxiety".
It's so much easier not having to think about the guitar's appearance again.
I don't like to have to worry/think about how my guitars look.

Although it wouldn't photograph well, (and I'm a horrible photographer at that ) If one saw my Mcnaughts close up, they have dings, pickscratches, and buckle rash. I take good care of my instruments. I certainly don't beat the Sh** out of them, but I'm not afraid of dings, or taking them out to play.

I also have a Thorn that has taken many a nasty fall off of the guitar stand. The hardware has lost it's shine, and the fretboard is so filthy that it's due for a cleaning. I buy guitars to play and enjoy. I can't enjoy something that either sits behind a glass case, or that I can't gig with. YMMV.

baker 7 with 6 string trem.

Is that the guitar that got the new neck from Saul Koll?

Your "pup" must be pretty large by now!!
