I did this to a Deville 4x10 I owned about a year ago. I have since sold the amp.. But this was a 'mod' that I felt improved the sound of the amp. In the end I realized I was trying to get blackface tones out of it, which I could never do. I sold it a built a black face Super Reverb clone.
To me this mod reduced the harshness of the reverb tail.. I felt the amp was too bright in many regards (not only reverb), but this helped.
Very easy to reverse if you don't like it!

I did the mod to my HRDlx and it was definitely an improvement. Prior to the mod, I could never turn the reverb up past two without sounding like a 60's surf guitarist! The reverb was just too over the top. It made the reverb more usable, in my opinion.

thanks.
yeah,my '66 sr sounds wonderful,i really love it.but i've got this other one as a portable amp.
hot rod deluxe is another thing than bf super reverbs but it is a good amp for the money.i don't use channel 2,only clean one.it has nice clean tones.i put 12at7's in v1 and v2(i use a ts808.)i could do more mods, maybe even get it better still more but i'm satisfied with the results, the only two things that i really hate are:
*tail of reverb too long-this mod seems to fix the problem
*the piercing attack of the reverb.when you punch a string the high end on the effect is too brittle in the very first part of the wave,in fact when you turn reverb knob down sound is bolder.i'm sure it's only the eq of reverb what i dislike.i wish i could change treble range on the effect
