Chet's music is great - RIP Chet, Jerry and Marcel - but not that easy to play, in case you hadn't noticed ;)

So I regularly try and make simplified versions that even I can play. With that in mind, here's a quick lesson for the intro of Mr. Bojangles, explained note by note.

Your post has inspired me to learn Vincent. I haven't busted out the acoustic in a while. It feels great!:AOK

It's seriously such a beautiful song. To be honest, I had no idea who Chet Atkins was before I saw your video so I did some research. I then found out he did Vincent which is a song I have loved since the very first time I heard it.

Right now I am half way through it. Trying to make my fingers get use to the changes. I will hopefully have this down by tomorrow night. I was going to go to the movies but I would rather learn this song instead... lol:BEER

I don't want to steal your thread away from you but here is a link to a video of Chet and Don preforming Vincent together. Just thought you might enjoy it if you haven't seen it yet. :)

I don't know what I find more astounding, that you didn't know who Chet was, or that you've already gone through half of that song! That's very impressive. I wish I could learn that fast!

lol Well luckily I have been playing the guitar for a while and I also tend to catch on to things very quickly. I have gotten the beginning of the song down so far and also the middle part with the harmonics at the 12 and 7 frets. The rest is I am still slowly fumbling through at this point. What really helps me is hearing the melody of the song in my head. I found a pretty decent transcription for the song on line. Only a few parts seem off to me thus far. Here is the link.

I have not had too much exposure to the people that most guitar players think are legends. This is probably why I was unfamiliar with Chet and his work. I can't wait to dive into his stuff some more. I also recently.... and people are going to think I am lying... found out about Randy Rhodes. Yes. Late train over here. I have been trying to hammer out that solo in Crazy Train now for a week. lol Love his fills in that song too.

Anyways, I am sorry to derail your thread. I think what you are doing on youtube is awesome!

Thanks for the kind words. No derailment at all, this is all great stuff. I am glad that you were exposed to Chet's work through my video. Thanks for the link!
