Well I've never heard Blues Saraceno before and he sounded like a great player. If you read his resume you see why he sounds in that bag. He's a studio cat/producer and judging by his TV/Movie/session credits I would say he wouldn't need to care what anyone on a guitar forum thought about his style. It gets him a ton of work and he's living the dream while we're whining about it.
Having said all of that, those pedals actually sounded really fat. I'm not an effects guy, but one of those might be fun for messing with. Great tone to my ears, especially when he ran through various Brit and other styles.

He also toured with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce. Should be enough to show that he is not just an "eighties shredder guy".

Blues is a monster player and although he can shred, he's also a very smooth and thoughtful player. I've always enjoyed his playing and tried to copy it for a while but his phrasing is too unique. Vai and Satch's stuff is easy for me but for some reason Saraceno's playing is very hard to pick up. Kudos to him for his abilities.
I think that clip was just him ripping it to show off....we all have our certain licks that are aimed to impress....his just seem to impress more people.....
On a side note, have you seen the prices for his dad's guitar pedals? $500+..... jeez that's like buying a decent amp.

Blues is WAY more than schooled shred, even though the dedication to that craft has my respect due to the time in the shed.
I have Plaid in my car changer right now :phones

Love those clips and now I have to throw out a cool vid from the 90's. Blues is one of my favorite players. Toneful and tasty.

Blues Saraceno is no one-trick pony. This said, the video above is exactly the kind of music I can't personally stand.

Uh, how many people on this board are recording artists who have credibility? Who MAKE MONEY and support themselves playing music THAT WE'VE ACTUALLY HEARD OF. Hey, I'm glad you're the toast of Bangor Maine, but you hold zero musical credibility with me until you do more than capture the Thursday to Saturday slot at the Greasy Monkey off of Main and 32nd.
So screw you snipers who actually try to look down on this guy with the 'ooh, he's not that good' crap.
Is it so hard to say that he's better than you?
Prove it if he isn't.

Yikes! :D
However, I'll second the motion that Blues Saraceno is a better guitarist than just about anyone on this board. ;) ... and not just at the Paul Gilbert, speed picking/legato stuff. He can out blues and out Gilmore just about any of ya.

I agree... the guy's a monster and not just shredding scales. Tone, feel, phrasing... he's got it all.

I respect Blues for many reasons. He's a very good guitar player with his own feel, style, and tone. He knows what to play when. He also produces, plays bass, drums, sings, and writes. And he's not into that 'rock star guitarist' BS trip. He's a quite guy who prefers to do studio stuff and be home with his family.

You ought to write to Saraceno about your concerns. He needs to hear this.

Listening to the clips on your site I can totally understand why you would dislike his clip but you cannot deny his virtues even if you hate the style. I happen to think he's killer and has always demonstrated melodic sense as well as technique and chops to die for but one mans candy is another mans barf.

Blues is great. He's a master of many styles too.
