Hey there -
My Traynor YCV40T just started making some terribly distorted sounds. How do I know if it's the tubes or the speakers?
Help!!!

Grab a spare preamp tube or set of power tubes and start diagnosing.

I'm pretty sure those have an XLR output. You can test to see if it's in the preamp section with that. If the signal is clean from that, the problem resides in the power amp section or the speakers.

hmm, yes - it's not an XLR but you can use the effect loop send as a direct out which bypasses the power section, likewise i can input a signal into the return which bypasses the pre-amp section!
Hopefully you have another speaker cab or can borrow one. Run the amp through that and then you know if its the amp or the speaker. Then start switching tubes if its the amp.
